In a most horrifying turn of events, a father and mother in Singapore are set to be charged on 17 September 2019, for murdering their 2-year-old daughter.
Child murdered by parents allegedly in Singapore
On 10 September 2019, police were alerted to a call for assistance at Block 52 Chin Swee Road, at around 8:30 pm. They found human remains inside the flat. Apparently, the remains were found burnt, inside a metal pot.
“Police have established that the remains are that of a two-and-a-half-year-old female toddler,” police said in a media release.
According to news reports, neighbours had complained of a strong smell in the corridor, of something rotting, at least a week before the body was found in the unit.
The reason for the gruesome incident remains unclear.
The suspects (the child’s parents) are believed to be married with at least three children. They are the registered occupants of the flat, and the 31-year-old man and 30-year-old woman are the biological parents of the victim.
The suspects have also been remanded since June 2018 for other unrelated offences. According to the police, they are believed to have murdered their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter prior to their remand.
Residents say that a man in his 20s has been living in the flat for the past three or four months. But his relation to the suspects is unknown.
Police investigations are going on.
