Sheila Sim gained fame as an actress and the mum of a 20-month-old daughter, Layla. According to her, she was “disappointed” with her husband, Deon Woo, who failed to prepare for a Mother’s Day celebration.
“No celebrations, no flowers, no cards for me this Mother’s Day bcos the husband failed to plan,” said Sheila Sim.
The actress turned emotional as she could not receive any form of surprise on the special day. She also emphasised how her husband failed to give her flowers or even a greeting card.
She Shares Why Mother’s Day Is Meaningful to Her
“I am disappointed,” Sheila said.
More than her own birthday, Sheila gives more importance to celebrating Mother’s Day.
“Mother’s Day is the most meaningful day for me,” she said. “Not my birthday but Mother’s Day.”
Since she gave birth to her lovely daughter, Sheila has been working hard to be a mum in the past months. “I worked so hard to be a mother,” she said.
Despite the disappointment, the actress said that she was trying hard to focus on the positive side of being a mum.
Besides anything else, Sheila reminds herself “that the biggest gift of them all is Layla.”
“I’m doing this bcos I love Layla with every bit of my heart,” she added. “I shouldn’t have expectations of returns.”
“I Am Only Human”
Even though Shiela said that she loves her daughter Layle with every bit of her heart, she said that she was “only human.” She did not allow space for invalidation; instead, she emphasised that what she was feeling was normal. It is OK sometimes to feel disappointed.
Actress Sheila Sim did not fail to address other mums who feel the same way after that.
“If any of you mamas are feeling the same way right now, you are not alone,” said Sheila.
“Still, Happy Mother’s Day to you. [Because] we mamas deserve to be celebrated,” said Sheila Sim at the end of her IG post.

A month before the celebration of Mother’s Day, Sheila Sim talks about the importance of prioritising your partner. She shares some things about putting your partner first in a relationship.
According to her, sometimes, it is an excellent idea to prioritise time with the partner first before kids. By doing so, mums will be able to balance being a mother and a wife perfectly.
There were times when Sheila chose to take a break. Instead of driving to see Layla, the actress sometimes decides to spend a lunch with her husband.
“So today, I choose my happiness; I choose my husband,” said Sheila.
For her, putting your partner first is an essential thing to do. However, keep in mind that spending time together does not always have to mean compromising with the kids. It is all about striking the right balance, which is something that Shiela is good at.
“Nowadays, dates mean going for walks, watching a good movie at home, going nearby for dinner,” she writes.
Most mums agree with her statement because it strengthens marriages and familial relationships. Kids come first, but it is also essential to prioritise your partner.
