Who says miracles don’t happen?
Jaxon Buell is a living example that they do. He was born with a rare brain malfunction called Microhydranencephaly, which left most of his skull and brain missing. Given just days to live, Jaxon has defied all odds and celebrated his first birthday on 27 August.
Microhydranencephaly is a severe abnormality of brain development without a cause that has no cure. 1 in 4,859 babies in the U.S. are born with the condition each year but most die soon after birth.
The couple found out about the abnormality during Brittany’s pregnancy and had the choice to abort the baby but decided against terminating the pregnancy.
“Jaxon has already shown how strong, smart, and special he is, accomplishing feats that doctors doubted he’d ever be able to do, shows improvements each and every day, and just reached a miraculous milestone in celebrating his 1st birthday,” according to the Jaxon Strong Facebook page.
Jaxon is now miraculously teething and saying his first words!
We’re sending Jaxon all the birthday love – he’s a true inspiration. We hope to see much more of it for many years to come!
