'Miracle' baby born with half a head creates a stir

Doctors in Uttar Pradesh were stunned when a ‘miracle’ baby was born with half a head and giant protruding eyes to a 32-year-old women from Amroha.

Doctors in Uttar Pradesh were stunned when an alleged miracle baby was born with half a head and giant protruding eyes at Sai Nursing home clinic to a 32-year-old women from Amroha.

The baby unfortunately could not survive due to the abnormalities in his physical features. Surprisingly, the womon, Savita Rani, has three older children who are all hale and hearty.

The doctor in-charge of the delivery informed the media that though it was a rare case, such abnormal babies are born to mothers who do not have a healthy diet during pregnancy.

“These complications occur due to incorrect and irregular eating habits of the mother during pregnancy. This is why we as doctors keep emphasising on regular check ups of the women during pregnancy so we can try to guide the mother and hope to avoid such birth abnormalities,” said the gynaecologist Kususm Lata as reported by mirror.co.uk.

A healthy and balanced diet should not only be maintained during pregnancy, but also before you start trying for conception.

  • Food items such as green vegetables, nuts, dairy, fish, lean meat and fruits contain essential nutrients like iron, omega 3 fatty acids, proteins, calcium are a must in a to-be mum’s diet. Read more about the foods you can consume during pregnancy, here.
