All You Need To Know About Women’s Hair Loss

All You Need To Know About Women’s Hair Loss

Even though hair loss is a sensitive subject, if you wish to address the issue, you must keep yourself updated with the different treatment options available in the market.

Are you noticing more clumps of hair in the shower trap, on your pillow or in the bristles of your hairbrush? Perhaps you’re losing more hair than you would like to admit.

Even though hair loss is a very sensitive subject, but if you wish to address the issue in time, you must keep yourself updated with the different treatment options available in the market.

For most women in Singapore who experience hair loss, it is mostly associated with a condition called telogen effluvium.

You see, a normal hair follicle goes through a complete cycle, which comprises growth, rest and shedding. The telogen phase is when the detached hair from the base of the hair follicle sheds.

Let’s take a look at some other common causes of hair loss in women.

5 Causes Of Hair Loss In Women In Singapore

Some common hair problems that Singaporean women face are thinning hair and sensitive scalp. These are mainly caused by excessive chemical treatments (e.g. hair rebonding, hair perming, and hair colouring) that lead to hair breakage and scalp sensitivities.

Thinning hair is usually due to poor nutrition of the scalp. Besides that, other factors such as loss of blood (Anemia), scalp sensitivities, dermatitis and fungal infections also play a role in hair loss among women.

1. Colouring, rebonding, perming

Take a look around and you will notice that when women hit their 20s, they would go for perms, relaxers, fashion hair colours and rebonding frequently to keep up with the trend of the season.
Chemical burns and allergies may also lead to contact dermatitis and hair loss.

2. Overdose of hair products

Women love to experiment with all kinds of styling products such as waxes, gel, silicone and mousse. But did you know that they contain high levels of polymer grease, waxes and alcohol that can cause blockage to follicles and sensitivity to the scalp?

Hygiene could also be another problem, as itchiness and inflammation can lead to excess scratching, fungal infections, dandruff, and Seborrhea Dermatitis among other issues.

3. Check your stress levels

The anxiety and stress levels for women in their 20s can be unbearably high, as they normally worry about their future. This can lead to an increase of male hormone production, which gradually turns to DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) that plays a major role in hair loss and oily scalp.

Here’s what a young lady suffering from hair loss and oily scalp issues, told us.

“I’ve been having problems with hair loss and dandruff for 2 years now, due to a combination of factors: stress, my diet and the shampoo that I was using. I decided to give Jean Yip’s Oriental Hair Solutions treatment a try and found out that apart from having dandruff and a very oily scalp, the roots of my hair were also starting to fall off. I’m glad that I discovered these problems early, as I was able to regain my beautiful hair faster. In just a few sessions, my dandruff and hair fall problems improved significantly. I’ve recommended Oriental Hair Solutions to my friend, as she is also having the same hair problems as me. I’m confident that Oriental Hair Solutions will be able to help her as well."

4. Women in their 30s and post-pregnancy

Most women in their 30s experience hair loss due to stress, hormonal imbalance and the after-effects of childbirth. The hair starts to turn yellowish and thinning begins.

Postpartum hair loss is relatively common due to excessive blood loss during childbirth. Withdrawal of additional supplement intake during pregnancy and diet plays a part too. Pregnancy hormones keep hair from falling (which is why your hair looks as lush as a supermodels’).

But all good things will come to an end without maintenance. When those hormones drop back to normal levels, the extra hair falls off too.

Serene Low, a mum of two kids, shares with us how she overcame her problem with hair loss after childbirth: “I used to have thick and healthy long hair. But after giving birth to my first child, I started losing hair and had a sensitive scalp. Thankfully, after undergoing the Oriental Hair Solutions treatment over a few months, my hair condition improved. I now feel more confident as I don’t lose so much hair anymore. I still keep up with the treatment – even after having my second child!"

Another way of maintaining a lush mane is by using the right products. Such as Mama’s Choice Hair Care Series.

5.Women in their 40s

In their 40s, most women begin to notice more grey hair. So scalp allergies are quite common, especially when we use harsh hair colours. The lack of scalp protection while using hair colour can also lead to scalp sensitivity and allergies.
Depending on the cause of your hair fall, proper treatment can be advised to you by a trichologist.

Hair Fall Treatment Options Available In Singapore

You can buy home care remedies, like scalp shampoo and tonic, for minor preventive hair loss problems. However, if you think there is a serious hair loss issue, you can do a complimentary scalp analysis to identify the problems with Oriental Hair Solutions.
Early-stage hair loss can usually be treated within a short period.

Oriental Hair Solutions offer a customised hair loss treatment. Examples of their state-of-the-art equipment are Light Emitting Diode for hair growth, Needleless Meso Therapy and Oxygen Infusion Therapy. Although treatments are herbal, there is no strong and unpleasant smell, as an advanced herb extraction method is used.

What makes Oriental Hair Solution a better choice?

A high-extract-ratio Oriental Herb extracts with more than 60 types of Asian herbs is used to ensure quality, safety, accuracy and efficacy.
There are many benefits to the key herbs used in treatments, such as Ginseng, Polygonum Multiflorum, Gentian, Sophora Root and Polygonum Cuspidatum.

These herbs are basically adaptogens that help reduce your body stress and the levels of DHT in your body. The herbs are also anti-itch and anti-bacterial, helping to create a healthier environment for hair growth.

Here’s why Oriental Hair Solutions stands out

By combining approaches from the east and west in diagnosis and treatment, Oriental Hair Solutions offers a superior treatment. Don’t worry about offensive Traditional Chinese Herbal smells.

Products used have gone through an extraction technique that does not include minerals, animal products and insects.

Advanced equipment is also used for scalp sanitisation, scalp penetration and stimulation.

Customers will need to go through a complimentary detailed scalp analysis for the therapist to design a suitable and customised scalp treatment that answers the customer’s concerns, scalp type and problems. Oriental Hair Solutions does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, so all treatments are personalised.

How long does it take before results are visible?

What is the percentage of success in hair re-growth? According to the experts, it is an 80% success rate for early stages of hair loss and 10-20% for advanced stages of hair loss, which usually develops with age.
The older you are, the lower the chance for hair re-growth.

It takes about two weeks to see results. Hair loss comes to a halt. Itchiness, dandruff or greasiness is significantly improved. You’ll experience a great improvement in scalp health.
