Adora Box: Every new mum's answer to SIDS concerns

5 min read

Now that I am pregnant and in my second trimester, I do a lot of reading on motherhood and everything it entails. While a lot of the information and learnings I picked up from this habit help bring clarity to this first-time mum-to-be.

But some of them also caused me to develop some anxieties for my baby. I came across a lot of articles on freak accidents, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other very real cases that I should be wary of and now tend to worry of.  Fortunately, these cases don’t happen to everyone. But, I believe it doesn’t hurt to be a little kiasu from time to time.

After all, we spend 9 months lovingly growing this baby inside our wombs – don’t we only want the best for our little bub?

So while researching SIDS, I came across a lot of tips: the baby should sleep in the same room as his or her parents, the baby should always sleep on their backs and of course, don’t let your baby sleep in the same bed with you.

But having a lot of friends with kids, I know that last tip is something many parents are guilty of. This is one of the reasons why The Adora Box was created.

Adora Box Singapore: A new mum’s answer to SIDS paranoia

When we first heard about Adora Box, in all honesty, we couldn’t wrap our heads around the idea of putting a baby in a box. It sounded a little strange, to say the least.

There were a lot of questions posed: “Is it just a cardboard box?” “What happens if the baby pees/poops and the diaper leaks?” “How long can this box really last?”

It wasn’t until we physically had the box in our hands that we could actually understand the totality of its functions.

The Adora Box isn’t JUST a box. Consider it a little day bed or safety area for your 0-6-month-old baby.

Adora Box Singapore keeps babies safe

If you’re the kind of parent who wants to have your baby in bed with you, having the Adora Box is something you may consider investing in.

The box separates you and your partner, as well as your bedding, from the baby. You don’t have to worry about rolling over and squashing your baby, or accidentally suffocating your baby with your blanket—they are safe and secure in the Adora Box.

ItYes, while the Adora Box may seem like just a cardboard box, it is comfortable and secure for your little one. The Adora Box comes with a firm, waterproof mattress and sufficient ventilation for your little one. It also comes with a 100% cotton fitted sheet.

The Adora Box Singapore set comes with a waterproof mattress and a fitted sheet.

The box is lightweight and portable, should you decide to cart it around with you when you travel. Weighing only 1kg in total, the Adora Box also takes away the hassle of bringing around a bulky portable crib.

You can assemble and disassemble it pretty easily.

Our thoughts on Adora Box

When you place an order for the Adora Box Singapore, it can come fully assembled to you, or you can choose to assemble it yourself. Assembling it yourself is easy. The corrugated cardboard box already comes with pre-fixed folds for you to fold the box and anyone can do it!

Then all you have to do is place the fitted sheets onto the waterproof mattress and it’s ready.

What we like about the whole concept is everything seems pretty well thought out – from the waterproof mattress (because diaper leakages can happen!) to the dimensions of the box, to the weight of the box and even the design.

We’re also impressed with how much weight the baby box can safely carry. According to its website, the Adora Box can withstand a load of up to 100 pounds or 45kg. Though we only tested it with two 5kg dumbbells (an average baby of up to 6 months is about 7-8kg only), the box proved to be sturdy and solid.

The only gripe we have with this box is the lack of colours to choose from! But of course, aesthetics have nothing to do with the safety features of the box.

Priced at $120 per box, it may seem a little steep, but you really can’t put a price on your baby’s life if safety is the feature you’re looking for in this product.

The minimalist box comes with side handles, tape to secure the box and also a cotton fitted sheet.

Adora Box Singapore also partners with many retailers and brands for free gifts and other bundle offers, making the price point very reasonable and worth it.
