5 things to do over the long weekend

28 Mar, 2013

Finally! It’s the start of the long weekend! Are you brainstorming or looking out for things to do? If you would rather stay in Singapore, here are some interesting ideas for how you can spend the long weekend.

Have a sleepover

Have a sleepover

Staying at home doesn’t have to be boring! Ask some family friends over for the evening and throw a super fun slumber party for guests of all ages. Have fun with both your kids and your friends all night long. Family friendly ideas for sleepovers include board games, home movie screenings and an ice cream raid in the middle of the night. After all, who wouldn’t enjoy a sweet dessert in the wee hours of the morning?
Catch a midnight movie

Catch a midnight movie

The hectic hustle bustle of work might be forcing you to crash into your bed the moment you reach home and depriving you of spending leisure rest time. Take this long weekend to sleep in and then stay up late the next day to catch a midnight movie. If you can get the kids to bed early and have a sitter or friend watching over them, grab your hubby and head to the cinemas for a midnight show together.
Go for a staycation

Go for a staycation

Staycations are perfect for you if hurried overseas trips or lounging at home are not your cup of tea. Plan for an easy one-night stay in a lush boutique hotel, or check into an exciting family resort or country club over the weekend. You will find loads of fun-filled activities for the whole family, from taking a dip in the scenic swimming pool to unwinding at a relaxing spa massage. The icing on this cake is that you don’t have to fuss about keeping the passports safe or worry about making long distance overseas calls.
Have an impromptu supper

Have an impromptu supper

Remember when you were an active and nocturnal teenager, staying up through the night and sleeping the entire morning (and sometimes afternoon) away? While we are not encouraging that, it might be fun to relive your adolescent years when puberty made you ravenous at midnight and you were a frequent guest of supper places at dusk. Get a few friends and be spontaneous -- suggest supper at the nearby prata house or just let your mood lead you to whatever you want to grab a late night bite.
Clear the clutter at home

Clear the clutter at home

It has been scientifically proven that cleaning and packing can be a therapeutic activity. Yes, we are serious. If you have been postponing the need to clear the clutter at home and ignoring the mess that irks you constantly, it’s time to use this long weekend to neaten up the house. You’ll definitely feel good after seeing how clean and tidy your place is.
