17-year-old transforms herself into iconic women in film

A Belgian teen is making headlines for her amazing makeup transformations. See her stunning photos here

Though Audrey Hepburn is a timeless style and beauty icon that has inspired many moviegoers and fashion lovers, few are able to actually say that they can successfully channel her.

Well, except for this 17-year-old girl in Belgium who has taken the internet by storm.

Meet Annelies Van Overbeek.

At first blush, it’s difficult to guess her age because of her ethereal and timeless beauty. Using her astonishing hair and makeup skills—and with a little help from her grandmother’s wardrobe—she travels back in time, channeling iconic women in Hollywood and in history.

She shares her stunning transformations with her 83,7000 followers via her instagram account.

Raiding her grandmother’s closet for vintage pieces, the new internet beauty icon’s makeovers are truly viral-worthy.

Here are just some of her most amazing looks.

Audrey Hepburn

Coincidentally my ‘Sabrina’ earrings came in the mail today and I figured I had try them on properly today! ???? they are slightly oval and not round, but I love them either way. Earrings are vintage from Etsy. #audrey #audreyhepburn #sabrina #audreyhepburnlookalike #annemariafrancine

Vivien Leigh (of ‘Gone With The Wind’)

My first Vivien Leigh recreation simply had to be Scarlett O’Hara from Gone with the Wind. ???? #vivienleigh #gonewiththewind #vintage #scarletohara #friends_of_faces_and_style

Belle

I meant it when I said I didn’t have time to take new photos, but oh well! ???? Princess Belle is my favourite Disney princess! What’s yours? ???? the blouse is 1960s, the apron 1950s and I’m ‘reading’ a vintage Oxford dictionary! ???? #belle #beaytyandthebeast #princessbelle #bellecosplay #vintage #shehadmanhands

In an interview with the Huffington Post, the talented teen shared how she came to love the art of makeup: “I have always loved using makeup and hair to transform myself into other people and movie characters. But it really started about a year ago when I cut my hair into a pixie cut and people started telling me I looked like Audrey Hepburn.

I wasn’t very familiar with anything Old Hollywood-related at all, but when I looked her up I fell in love with the elegance of vintage silver-screen glamor!”

Why does everything look better in black & white? Last one for my funny face series. ☺️ also, a very happy birthday to the lovely Audrey Hepburn who would’ve been 87 today. ???????? #audreyhepburn #funnyface #1950s #audreyhepburnlookalike #annemariafrancine

As preparation, she studies the actress or character’s facial features and expressions—even their mannerisms or how they sit or stand.

“I simply try to recreate it as closely as possible,” says the observant teen.

For her first look, however, she admits she had to try several times before she managed to successfully mimic Audrey Hepburn.

But her love affair with makeovers began way before that; she was always fond of dressing up as movie characters like Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Sansa Stark from ‘Game of Thrones’.

She does everything herself. “I find most of the stuff in charity shops and on Etsy. I only have one wig, which I bought off Amazon, and the rest of my hairpieces were given to me by my grandmother,” she reveals.

As for her camera of choice, she shares: “I take all photographs myself on my iPhone 6S with a tripod and I sometimes use [Photoshop Elements 8] for skin retouching, but I mainly just use the Instagram filters.”
