Woman supported by many as she breastfeeds sister's baby

Woman supported by many as she breastfeeds sister's baby

Meg Nagle is receiving tons of support from the internet for breastfeeding her nephew! Looks like we've come a long way in the fight for breastfeeding

Woman breastfeeds sister’s baby—In today’s world, the idea of breastfeeding publicly is finally starting to be more and more widely accepted. Rightly so. Breastfeeding in public should be recognised as a social norm just about anywhere and everywhere.

Society has made leaps and bounds recently and has even started to create online campaigns to support moms everywhere in their quest to eradicate the stigma that is unfortunately associated with breastfeeding.

While we’ve certainly come a long way in the fight to make such a natural act more common in society, you’d be surprised and delighted to hear the support behind blogger Meg Nagle (a.k.a. The Milk Meg).

Meg Nagle’s situation is pretty unique. Meg posted a picture of herself breastfeeding on Facebook. Sure, that doesn’t sound like anything too crazy or absurd but her situation gained attention because in her post, she was breastfeeding her nephew!

My gorgeous little nephew! While my sister was at work today I tried to give him a bottle of her expressed milk a few… Posted by The Milk Meg on Monday, March 21, 2016

Surely one would expect the picture to cause a ruckus and uproar from the harsh users of Facebook and the internet as a whole—but you’d be wrong. In fact, the post has (for the most part) received positive feedback and support from the internet!

In the post, Nagle writes: “My gorgeous little nephew! While my sister was at work today I tried to give him a bottle of her expressed milk a few times (which he wouldn’t take). I could see he was tired so I popped him on the boob and voila, he was asleep in minutes.”

After posting, she was surprised to see the support she received from women everywhere. It may also be of interest to know that she gained support from other women who have breastfed infants who were not their own.

It may not be a huge trend or something that all women should consider doing, but it’s awesome to see the progress and support towards breastfeeding in society…whether or not it’s our own child or someone else’s!
