Mummies, if you’re running out of activities to do with your family this week, fret not. There are actually quite a number of family-friendly events happening around our island and here’s a guide to the ones that struck our fancy!
#1 Music & Movement for toddlers
This combination of capoeira and Brazilian martial arts event, hosted by Capoeira Senzala Singapore will have your tots learning capoeira concept skills through multitudes of body movements and control while incorporating Brazilian martial arts through the use of musical instruments such as traditional Brazilian drums and capoeira shakers. They’ll also learn to play and sign some of the traditional capoeira songs in Portuguese! There will be a free demo class on the 30 July.

#2 2016 Heartstrings Walk
The 2016 Heartstrings Walk is an annual event where people, young and old, with or without disabilities, come together to interact while having fun with the many booths and activities available. You and the family can take part in the fun walk, where you’ll receive a goodie bag, or have fun at the family carnival, where educational booths and even inflatables are available. Registration is required for participation in the events.

#3 Park Bench Deli Turns One
Fancy a lunch complete with craft beers and good music? Head down to the very famous grub cafe, Park Bench Deli for its first birthday, where you can savour on their generous portion of grub platter for just $15, consisting ofTuna Tartare Sandwich, Anchovy Paste Fried Chicken with Sour Plum Sauce, Torched Wagyu Beef and Glutinous Rice and more! Beers and wines go at $10 and admission is free. Also, the event goes on till 10pm, so there’s no reason for you to miss this out!

#4 GetActive! Singapore Festival
For those looking to have an active, fit-and-healthy kind of weekend, head over to the nearest ActiveSG sports centre that will be taking part in the GetActive! Singapore Children and Families Sports Festival. This festival will be taking place during the weekends leading to National Day and you can expect interactive activities for the whole family such as sports try-outs and kampong games. There will also be a screening of the Singapore National Games as well!

#5 Cold Storage’s ‘Flavours of the World’ Fair
Cold Storage is organising a 2-week event where you’ll find some of the world’s favourite foods, all in one place. Not kidding. From local favourites to international favourites such as fondue from Switzerland and BBQ Ribs from the USA, you’d be spoilt for choice! Complete your meals with champagnes and beers and the many snacks that are also available. Admission is free.

Well how about a pasar malam showcasing Singapore related homewares, apparel, delicacies and every other thing you can think of? For the 2 year running, Singapasar 2016 will be bigger and better. The largest baby fair that’s happening only twice a year is happening this weekend, at the Singapore Expo! #10 Singapore Science Festival 2016
Singapore Science Festival is a science festival hosting different events everyday and this year, their events will evolve around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths). From dinosaurs, to Minecraft and Math, be prepared to have your mind blown with all these amazing facts through interactive events. The events are catered to different age groups and there’s even a story telling and craft session for the 4-6 year olds. Registration is required.
