Why Volunteer at Chingay 2025?
Chingay is a unique opportunity to join hands with thousands of passionate individuals to create a colourful and joyous spectacle that celebrates Singapore’s rich cultural heritage. Volunteers play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the parade, contributing to an atmosphere of excitement and unity. You’ll get the chance to interact with people from all walks of life, and perhaps even meet a few future friends along the way!
The theme for Chingay 2025, “Joy,” focuses on shared experiences, highlighting food as the common thread that unites us all, regardless of ethnicity, language, or age. With over 4,000 performers, food-inspired floats, dazzling costumes, and dynamic choreography, this year’s event is set to be a true celebration of Singapore’s artistic spirit.
Volunteer Roles Available
There’s a range of volunteer opportunities to choose from, each offering a unique chance to get involved in different aspects of the parade.
1. Crowd Management Volunteer
Ensure the smooth movement of the crowd before and after the parade, assist performers with the parade route, and manage entry and exit points. It’s all about keeping everything organised and on track!
2. General Hospitality Volunteer
Be the welcoming face of the event! Guide the audience, provide helpful information, and maintain the festive vibe throughout the day. A friendly attitude and enthusiasm are key.
3. Liaison Volunteer
Welcome performers as they arrive and make sure everything runs smoothly for them. You’ll be the first point of contact for performers, ensuring their needs are met and helping them feel at ease.
4. Production Crew Volunteer
Help set the stage for the magic to unfold. As a production volunteer, you’ll assist with preparations, moving props, and ensuring the smooth flow of the parade.
5. Volunteer Leader
Take the lead and motivate your fellow volunteers. As a Volunteer Leader, you’ll guide and inspire your team, tackle challenges, and make sure everything is running like clockwork.
6. Logistics Volunteer
Assist with essential parade preparations. From organising props and equipment to ensuring the smooth movement of teams, logistics volunteers keep the behind-the-scenes operations in check.
7. Food & Beverage Volunteer
Keep the team energised! Help serve food and beverages to volunteers and performers, ensuring that everyone stays refreshed and ready for action.
8. Admin & Welfare Volunteer
Provide essential behind-the-scenes support, ensuring the welfare of volunteers and performers. Your role will be critical in keeping everyone comfortable and ensuring the event runs smoothly.
9. Media Volunteer
Capture the magic of Chingay from behind the lens! As a media volunteer, you’ll document the spectacular moments of the parade, helping share the event with a wider audience through photos and videos.
Pre-Requisites for Volunteer Application
To volunteer, you must meet the following criteria:
- General Volunteers: 15 years old and above.
- EXCO/Volunteer Leaders: 17 years old and above.
- Fully vaccinated.
- Able to commit to all the sessions listed in the application form.
Appreciation for All Volunteers
In recognition of your hard work and dedication, all volunteers will receive:
- Meals on key dates of involvement.
- A special Chingay Volunteer T-shirt.
- A Certificate of Appreciation.
- A Letter of Acknowledgement of Participation (upon request).
