After giving the coveted Victoria’s Secret show a miss last year, South African ‘angel’ Candice Swanepoel put her wings back on and returned to the ramp.
The stunning supermodel strutted her stuff in Shanghai last month. Only this time, she wasn’t alone on stage and nobody knew. Yes, that’s correct.
The mum-of-one who walked the ramp looking as gorgeous as ever was sporting a teeny-tiny baby bump.
Victoria’s Secret- No more a secret!
Since most people didn’t know she was expecting, nobody really noticed the bump.
It was only after after she officially announced her pregnancy did people realise what they had missed.
Swanepoel took to Instagram to announce that she was expecting her second child. And in the process, she let slip that she was pregnant when she walked the Victoria’s Secret Shanghai runway.
“I’m loving being a mum and this new stage in my life”
The 29-year-old Victoria’s Secret model already has a son named Anaca with her fiancé. And in the previous year, she took a break from the coveted fashion show to be with him.
In an interview with Vogue earlier this year, the supermodel mentioned that life changed for her after she gave birth.
“Becoming a mother makes the world feel so much better. Nothing can get me down. I just look at him and see him seeing the world for the first time, and it’s just such a pleasure to see it through his eyes. I’m loving being a mum and this new stage in my life. It’s always been about me, and my career, and it’s so nice to have this shift and put all my love and energy into something else,” she shared.
The model who has taken the fashion world by storm divides her time between Brazil, where her fiancé’s family is based, and New York, where she comes to for work. However, she knows that the first priority is her son – and now her unborn child.
Since taking time off to care for her son, Candace was only publicly seen at the Met Gala in May and then the Victoria’s Secret show. It appears she is learning to juggle between fame and family.
“Definitely before the red carpet at the Met, I was a little more nervous than usual,” she admitted.
“I’ve been out for a good few months and you don’t really deal with so much judgement. You know, when I’m working I’ll post things on Instagram and do public appearances and people always have comments – good and bad. And so, after becoming a mum, this is the first time that I’ve really put myself out there, so I was a little bit nervous, but it all went really well. And, to be honest, after becoming a mum, you don’t really care about much else,” shared the mum-to-be who clearly plans to continue with her career with her two bubs in tow.
As she should. A working mother sets the correct precedence for her kids, and it’s extremely beneficial for the kids as well.
3 positive effects of having a working mother
- They are positive role models. Working mothers are role models for their kids. They teach them not only about time management and multi-tasking but also about the importance of balancing work and home. So through a working mother, girls realise the importance of having a career. And boys understand their roles within the house.
- They raise independent kids. When kids watch their mothers handle situations and problems both at home and at office, they realise the importance of being self-reliant. Such kids then grow up to be independent and have their mums to thank for this quality.
- They raise kids with academic bent. Studies have proved that working mothers raise children who also perform well academically because they are able manage their time well. Working mothers understand the importance of good education and are able to influence their kids to achieve academic excellence.
