Unique and exciting enrichment classes for kids in Singapore

The school holidays are here and your kids can finally get a break from their studies to have some fun!

Are you looking for an exciting enrichment class to sign them up for but want something a bit different than the usual ballet, speech & drama, Mandarin and gymnastics classes?

We've found a few totally unique programmes that are out of the ordinary and will be sure to keep your children happy!

1. Mermaid Swimming Course (Singapore's Mermaid School)

1. Mermaid Swimming Course (Singapore's Mermaid School)

Forget being a princess who has tea parties, your little girl (or even boy!) will be sure to have a splashing good time learning how to become a real-life mermaid frolicking in the water instead!

Let your child become part of Singapore's First Mermaid Pod and discover more about the fascinating mermaid culture, history and mythology.

At the Mermaid School, your mini-merchild will receive a shimmering mermaid tail and will be taught how to swim through the water with grace and beauty.

Suitable for: Kids of all ages who are capable swimmers

2. Pop Stars (Centre Stage)

2. Pop Stars (Centre Stage)

Do you have a Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber wannabe? If you little one loves to sing and dreams of becoming a star featured on MTV some day, you can let them belt out some tunes at this fun course!

Your kids will learn pop and musical theatre songs, choreograph some smooth dance steps to go along with them and then present it in class to a supportive audience.

There is even an exciting Popstar Show which happens every year and also great opportunities for your pint-sized popstar to perform in other events -- and who knows, maybe even get spotted by a talent scout?

Suitable for: 5 - 10 year olds

3. Malay Language Programmes (Mini Monsters Limited)

3. Malay Language Programmes (Mini Monsters Limited)

Did you know that Malay is the national language of Singapore? If you want your child to grow up being multilingual, then sign her up for one of the many language programmes offered in a fun setting and interesting approach!

Mini Monsters which was co-founded by well-known Suria celebrity, Rilla Melati Bahri, aims to encourage children to develop a lifelong love for the Malay language with it's unique enrichment programmes, entertaining drama performances, and beautifully illustrated educational books.

So whether your kid is Malay and wants to brush up on her Bahasa Melayu, or she is picking it up as a foreign language, these exciting classes are conducted through thematic songs, creative role-playing, fun storytelling, and other enjoyable activities which your little one will be sure to enjoy!

Suitable for: 4 - 10 years old

4. Kids Parkour (Gym Kraft)

Since Singapore is pretty much an urban jungle, your kids might have more access to concrete play spaces as opposed to tall coconut trees and wide open fields.

Sign your agile little one up to learn parkour (also known as freerunning) which is a great physical activity where you nimbly navigate your way through obstacles in an urban setting.

Your child will not only have lots of fun, but also improve her overall fitness, spatial awareness, coordination and confidence!

Suitable for: 7 - 12 year olds

Cheer your child on as she climbs to the top, or harness up and conquer the wall together for a truly fun and heart-racing bonding experience.

It's important that your child gets enough exercise to maintain a healthy body weight and also improve motor coordination -- but is she getting enough physical activity from her usual P.E classes in school?

This fun programme will help kick start your child's love of fitness which will hopefully stick and become part of her normal routine.

Starting off with basic movements such as squats, push ups, pull ups, climbing, jumping, your child will then graduate onto more detailed techniques that involve plyometric, gymnastics, weight lifting and more.
