An unexpected discovery: Little girl found deep inside a cave

An unexpected discovery: Little girl found deep inside a cave

A group of friends were out exploring a cave in Oregon where they stumbled upon a little girl that was all alone inside the dark cave.

What if you were on a vacation with your family, you look away for just a moment to admire the scenery, and then realise that your kid is missing?! Most probably, you’ll exhaust all your efforts just to find your missing child and to know that they are safe and sound.

A shocking discovery

A group of friends exploring a cave were surprised when they stumbled upon a little girl, crying and all alone in the cave. The explorers were creating a video for their Youtube channel and found the girl inside Ape Cave in Oregon while they were crawling through a small and narrow passage.

They were shocked to find that the girl made it all the way inside the cave, going through different tunnels and passages, without any light source and in pitch black darkness.

The group even considered not going through the entire cave since the passages kept getting tighter and tighter, but curiosity got the best of them and they eventually found the girl all alone and crying in one corner of the cave.

The explorers were even more surprised to find that the girl didn’t speak any english. They attempted to communicate with her, and eventually they managed to coax her to join them so that they could guide her out of the cave.

Safe and sound

Eventually, the group found the little girl’s parents, who interestingly enough, they bumped into earlier in the day. One of the members of the group found the little girl’s parents shouting near the entrance of the cave, looking for their missing child. The little girl has been returned to her parents safe and sound, and hopefully they all learned a valuable lesson from the experience.

If you watch the video closely, you can actually see a glimpse of the little girl right at the 2:29 mark.

What if it happens to you?

What happened to the little girl is surely every parent’s worst nightmares. That’s why it’s extremely important to make sure that you as well as your child knows what to do in case you get separated. Here are some helpful tips:

Keep calm – the most important thing is to stay calm and check your immediate surroundings. If it hasn’t been a long period of time since you’ve last seen your child, then they would most likely be in the vicinity. Think back to any places that might have attracted their attention, and check to see if they are there. You should also try calling out your child’s name.

Get help – If you still can’t find your child within a couple of minutes, then you should immediately look for a guard or an employee in the area and explain what happened. They usually have a protocol for these sorts of events, so they would be able to help you out.

Call the police – After about 5-10 minutes and you still haven’t found your child, it’s best to contact the authorities so that they can assist you. Based on a report by the U.S. Department of Justice back in 2006, the first three hours are most critical when it comes to finding a missing child. Make sure to give them a good description of your child, and where you last saw them. It’s important that you remain calm and collected, and to always stay positive.

Make sure they have identification – Whenever you’re going out with your child, always provide them with an ID or a card with their name, address, as well as your name and contact information. This information is very helpful if someone finds your child so that they know who to contact.
