Types of Singaporean travellers you wouldn't want to include in your next trip

Types of Singaporean travellers you wouldn't want to include in your next trip

Grab your passports, itineraries and don't forget your patience! Here are 9 annoying travellers that we have little to no tolerance for

Ah, travelling. Every Singaporean’s favourite pastime. Just scroll through your social media feed and you’ll see your friends posting pictures of their boarding passes with a caption that contains the hashtag: “#wanderlust”

But let’s not deny that it does get annoying travelling with some people who just don’t seem to have the same travel frequency as you.

We’ve experienced (and are somewhat guilty of) that and here we bring you 9 of the most annoying Singaporean travellers. Can you relate?

#1 The Kiasu one
DESCRIPTION

“Did you bring the passports?” Yes. “Did you bring the itinerary?” Yes. “Did you bring the tissues?” For what?!

This type of traveller might actually already have excess baggage before they even leave the country! They really do need assurance that we don’t have to carry EVERYTHING with us.

#2 The Kancheong one
DESCRIPTION

This type of traveller will wake you up at 5am for a 12pm flight and have you both reaching the airport at 8am for a 10am check in, just because.

#3 The homesick one
DESCRIPTION

The plane hasn’t even took off and she’s already sending “i miss you” texts to her mum and everybody else at home. Oh, she’s also the one that is the first to buy the SIM card just so she could call home.

#4 The Snapchatter
DESCRIPTION

You guys could be enjoying the sunrise after a 4 hour mountain hike and this one friend takes out his phone and starts talking and doing a 360 degree turn for ten seconds while holding his phone. Or, he could be at the dinner table opening and closing his mouth, fascinated by the snapchat filter while everyone else is eating (and rolling their eyes).

#5 The Instagrammer
DESCRIPTION

Similar to the Snapchatter, but the Instagrammer is mostly silent but takes a whole lot more time. I mean, they’re just looking for the perfect Insta-worthy shot, you know? Oh, they also take photos of literally everything. The food, the tour bus and even the keys to the hotel room.

#6 The “everything also must follow itinerary” one
DESCRIPTION

This type everything also must follow itinerary, die die must follow itinerary. It gets really frustrating because the whole point of travelling is exploring and they won’t even want to hear you say “hey you want to take the speedboat instead of the cruise?” Because no, you might apparently “lose track of schedule.”

#7 The baggage allowance hogger
DESCRIPTION

For some reason, this person didn’t think that buying excess baggage allowance would be necessary…until they realise that their 24-inch luggage is a little too small for the many things that they’ve bought. Solution? They put their stuff in your luggage! It’s really harmless but still annoying.

#8 The one that’s always on a budget
DESCRIPTION

I mean, really? We’re in Spain and you’re saying that you’re on a budget?! What did you even expect?

#9 The whiner
DESCRIPTION

They’re the ones saying things like: “No, I want an individual room!” or “You don’t expect me to wake up THAT early just to catch the sunrise.” or “Who’s the one that wanted to come here in the first place? Korea was a much better choice.”
