Toxic Levels of Lead Found in Some Toys

High lead levels found in some Barbie and Disney toys.

An advocacy group based in California recently revealed that some toys carrying the Barbie and Disney brand contained high levels of lead. Experts say that lead can cause damage to the brain and is one of the reasons why children perform poorly in school.

MSNBC gives us a list of toys that had toxic levels of lead. Included in the list are Dora the Explorer Activity Tote, Tinkerbell Water Lily necklace, Barbie bike flair accessory, some shoes, a belt and a poncho.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission in the US is looking into the matter. But with this recent news, maybe parents should just look for alternatives when they go shopping this Christmas.
