A 43 year old high school teacher was stabbed to death by her 15 year old student after he was reprimanded for using a cellphone in class.

Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines - A 43 year old high school teacher was stabbed to death by his 15 year old student inside their classroom after the student was reprimanded because he used a cellphone during class.

The incident happened at around 8:30am last Tuesday, September 13. The teacher, Vilma Cabactulan was stabbed three times in the back by her student who immediately fled the scene after the stabbing. Cabactulan was immediately brought to a hospital where she died.

The suspect was later persuaded by his family to surrender to the local Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) office. He was then turned over to the Bulua Police Station's Women and Children's Protection Desk (WCPD) where he will undergo a medical and a psycho-social examination.

According to Police Officer 1 Marian Mae Tolentino, the boy told investigators that there were two other boys involved in the incident, both of them his classmates. The boy added that he was always reprimanded and humiliated by their teacher and that he was not the only one who held  grudge against her.

Tolentino adds that the boy told investigators that the three of them agreed to draw lots to determine who among them will be the one to do the deed. The boy also said that the knife was handed to him inside the school.

The police have yet to talk to the other students that were mentioned by the suspect.
