Struggling With Haircare And Styling Since Becoming A Mum? Here’s How to Fix That

Over 50% of new mums experience at least one on these hair struggles, which can sometimes be exacerbated by a lack of proper hair care.

When you become a mum, your priorities change. You have a lot less time to spend on yourself, which is true even for your hair. Not only do you have minimal time for hair care and styling, but you’re also likely dealing with at least one postpartum hair struggles such as thinning, dry hair, sensitive scalp, and dandruff.

Don’t worry, you are not alone. Over 50% of new mums experience at least one on these hair struggles, which can sometimes be exacerbated by a lack of proper hair care.

These hair struggles, along with the weight gain and stretch marks, cause mums to suffer from negative postpartum self-image almost immediately after pregnancy, and which can also last for months, according to a study.

And with pressure from society, and themselves, to snap right back to their pre-pregnancy image and appear polished and well-adjusted with their new role, women are often forced to take drastic steps to meet these unrealistic standards and expectations.

But when you’re a new mum, time becomes one of life’s biggest luxuries, along with sleep! So, to appear “put together,” you need quick, easy and practical solutions in life—including how you manage your hair. When your hair is in a vulnerable state (read: postpartum hair), it’s crucial that any hair care and styling is as efficient and effective as possible without causing damage to already delicate hair, which isn’t always easy to achieve.

Over 75% of the mums in our haircare survey wanted a hair dryer that’s fast-drying without the use of extreme heat, and this is where Dyson steps in with the perfect solution, thanks to the unique design of the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer.

What sets this hair dryer apart from all others is the patented Dyson Digital Motor V9 which is so powerful it can propel up to 13 litres of air every second for super-quick drying!  It also incorporates intelligent heat control which measures air temperature over 40 times as second, regulating heat to prevent damage, protect natural shine and reduce frizz and flyaways.

This is especially important for mums, particularly in the postpartum period. Based on our survey, 66% of mums experience hair thinning or hair loss. To prevent these problems, it is essential for mums to ensure their hair is adequately dried because damp or wet hair is more prone to breakage and damage.

Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer’s unique engineering makes hair drying more efficient making it easier for even the busiest mums to find time to blow dry their hair regularly without worrying about heat damage.

Another key time-saving feature of the Dyson Supersonic™ is the range of easily interchangeable magnetic attachments. These make the hair dryer more versatile whilst increasing hair shine and smoothness thanks to the absence of extreme heat.

But What About Styling?

It is no surprise that many mums lose confidence in their appearance after giving birth. When it comes to physical appearance, hair styling is probably among the “quick fixes” mums can turn to when they want to feel more confident and attractive.

Blow drying your hair can help keep it looking sleek and shiny, which is great for most days in a busy mum’s life. But there will also be times when you want to experiment with different styles without spending hours in front of a mirror.

The thought of styling your hair from scratch can be quite daunting, especially when using typical curlers or straighteners which require you to dry your hair thoroughly beforehand.  In fact, 74% of the mums we surveyed said they either used a hair styler a few times a year for special occasions or not at all.

Another key concern raised by 77% of the mums surveyed is the heat that’s associated with most styling appliances which can potentially cause damage to their already delicate hair.

But you don’t need to be held back by these challenges and concerns because the Dyson Airwrap™ can solve them all. This unique appliance uses cutting-edge technology to smooth, style and curl hair with minimal heat, enabling you to create a range of styles at home, without worrying about causing damage.

Like the Dyson Supersonic™, the Airwrap™ incorporates Intelligent Heat Control technology that measures and regulates the temperature 40 times per second. This ensures the temperature stays below 150°C, which prevents damage to your hair.

Besides offering a much healthier styling option, the Dyson Airwrap™ is also a great time saver as it gives you the option to style and dry your hair at the same time, which is a big win in our books!

When it comes to experimenting with different styles, the Dyson Airwrap™ is a game-changer. It uses an aerodynamic phenomenon called the Coanda effect which attracts and wraps hair around a range of different barrels and attachments, using just air.

The six different attachments can be quickly interchanged for a range of styling techniques, so you can easily create various looks for different occasions. From glamorous curls for a night out through to a quick touch up for a coffee with friends, the Dyson Airwrap™ breezes through it all.

So, bid farewell to hair struggles because, with the right tools on hand, you can give your hair the love, shine and style it deserves, even on your busiest days!

Find out more about the Airwrap™ and Supersonic™ at Dyson’s Funan and Westgate stores or by visiting the Dyson website.
