Spoiler-free School Lessons from Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Spoiler-free School Lessons from Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Review these lessons before and after you see the latest Star Wars episode!

Much like the first 6 films, Episode 7 is rife with wisdom!

Here are some lessons from The Force Awakens that you might want to review with your kids before or after you see it. No spoilers in this one, promise!

Physics: Understand the power and advantages of solar energy. Nuclear reactors are so last 6 episodes. Sun power is the way of the future.

Chemistry: H2O. It has the same molecular structure regardless of who – or what has been drinking it.

Economics: There is a difference between cost and value. One quarter portion is enough for one meal. The cost of BB-8 is 240 meals… but its worth is priceless. Not everything is for sale.

Military Education: Disobedience is not always a bad thing, even if everyone else is being obedient. What matters is doing the right thing. Be loyal to values. Have something worth fighting for – and possibly dying for.

Psychology: If at first you don’t succeed, do it again (remember, Yoda once said “There is no try”). Test your strength and don’t be afraid to push its limits. What’s the worst thing that could happen?

Political Science: Power is not something one is entitled to. It is the wand that chooses the wizard. Oops, wrong series. Being destined for something is not dependent on your family tree.

Language: Speak more than one language. It’s an increasingly small galaxy.

Values Education: Don’t judge others based on what they look like or what they do. Scavengers, the guys who work at sanitation, smugglers, storm troopers. Appreciate the contributions of other people. Friends always got your back. Instead of competing, they build each other up and are happy for each other’s successes.

History: Make sure the next generation understands the context behind wars, heroes and organizations. There are those who will try to re-write history to manipulate the youth.

Social Science: The family is the basic unit of a community. Parenting is a parent’s responsibility that should not be delegated to a teacher or other relative, no matter how powerful or influential. At the end of the day, the parent is accountable. May the force be with you.

“Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens” opens this week in theatres around the galaxy.

Look who else is feeling the force!

Starwars

The force is strong with this one.
