Mums, don't let a sore throat slow you down!

4 min read
Mums, don't let a sore throat slow you down!

Even the mighty mum is slowed down by the sudden outburst of illness once in a while. There is one go-to solution to fit into one’s arsenal. Leftose kick-starts the fast route to recovery.

It is the June holidays. Your kids are at home all the time. You have too much on your plate with planning their holiday camps and enrichment classes, getting them ready for the PSLEs or running around for their P1 registration, planning the annual family summer getaway while trying to get that next presentation finished for work.

The last thing you need at this point is to be knocked back by a sore throat.

You simply can’t afford to lose your voice; there is just a lot that you need to get accomplished in a day. You are a supermom, but sore throats can be a real kryptonite, slowing you down when you can least afford it. Worry not. Here are some simple ways to soothe that sore throat and get you back on the road.

Do saltwater gargles

Gargling with warm salt water will help reduce the swelling in the throat and relieve discomfort by loosening the mucus and helping to flush out the irritants. It is recommended that half a teaspoon of salt is dissolved in one cup of water.

Steam inhalation

Steam inhalation can help ease a sore throat by relieving dryness as well as congestion. Simply take a bowl and fill it halfway with hot water, then add in eucalyptus oil. Drape a towel over your head and lean over the bowl — creating a tent like structure. Then inhale deeply. You will feel the steam working its way through the nasal passages and down to your throat.

Drink plenty of fluids

Drinking plenty of fluids helps you stay hydrated. It also helps keep the mucous membranes moist and the body is better able to combat bacteria and irritants like allergens. While water is always good, the fluid intake can consist of watered down fruit juice, lemon water, herbal tea or chicken broth.

Take a breather

This is often the hardest ones for mums. But you need to drop everything for a bit and focus on getting better. You need to get some rest so that the body has a chance to fight back. To care for your family better, you need to prioritise self-care, too! Here are some mummy me-time ideas to try.

Say sayonara to sore throats with Leftose

While lozenges and herbal sweets are often the first things that come to mind when it comes to soothing a sore throat, they may not however, tackle the root cause of the problem.

Sore throat is often the result of throat inflammation or irritation. Leftose reduces the inflammation, which helps relieve the pain, swelling and discomfort in the throat. Leftose is a true workhorse, providing relief against sore throats and chesty coughs, with almost immediate results.

Leftose is a trusted anti-inflammatory and mucolytic tablet (available in syrup form for younger children) which has been prescribed by Singapore and Japanese healthcare professionals for more than 30 years.

What differentiates Leftose from the other anti-inflammatory products available at the pharmacy counters? Effectiveness and Quality. A lot of these products may even have the same chemical compounds, but the quality of the ingredients and country of origin can vary vastly.

Leftose, the original lysozyme brand, uses more than 10,000 eggs to produce 1kg of lysozyme, thus it is renowned for its superior quality. Lysozyme is a natural enzyme also found in your tears, saliva and breastmilk, hence proven to be highly credible and safe. For decades, Leftose has long been the brand of choice by the Japanese health authorities.

Leftose tablets are available in 50s at all leading pharmacies at $9.90 and $13.40 for Leftose syrup 100ml.
