The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) does not recommend cough medication for children under the age of four because most contain potentially harmful or even fatal substances. On the other hand, medical experts recommend that sore throat in children below two years old is tackled by increasing their fluid intake, rather than relying on medication.
