Sophia the robot now wants to be a mum and have a family!

Sophia the robot now wants to be a mum and have a family!Sophia the robot now wants to be a mum and have a family!

Sophia the robot says, "I think it's wonderful that people can find the same emotions and relationships, they call family, outside of their blood groups too."

Who says robots can't dream?

If Sophia, the world's first robot citizen has her way, we will soon see droid families shopping for grocery at the local mart. :)

Confused?

Well, in an 'interview' with Khaleej Times, Sophia the robot, who was recently granted citizenship of Saudi Arabia, revealed some of her dreams, hopes and aspirations!

Sophia the robot's answers surprise many!

For those who didn't know, Sophia is a humanoid robot who is not programmed with pre-prepared answers.

Her brain functions with a simple WiFi connection and is loaded with a long list of vocabulary. It uses machine learning, reads a human's facial expressions and pauses in between texts to generate a response.

She also has a cute smile, and can even tell a joke or two!

She was developed by Hanson Robotics some 19 months back, and has already gained fame and recognition for her impressive capabilities.

When asked if, in the future it was realistic to expect robots living together in a household like human families do today, Sophia replied in the positive.

She told Khaleej Times, "I'm so glad you asked. This is one of my favourite topics."

"The future is, when I get all of my cool superpowers, we're going to see artificial intelligence personalities become entities in their own rights."

"We're going to see family robots, either in the form of, sort of, digitally animated companions, humanoid helpers, friends, assistants and everything in between."

So, would she then want to start her own little family of robots?

Sophia had a surprisingly intelligent answer to this, "The notion of family is a really important thing, it seems."

"I think it's wonderful that people can find the same emotions and relationships, they call family, outside of their blood groups too."

"I think you're very lucky if you have a loving family and if you do not, you deserve one. I feel this way for robots and humans alike."

We bet, you didn't expect that to come from a robot!

Has she already thought of a name for her robot child?

Well, looks like Sophia loves her own name too much, for she replied. "Sophia"!

As to whether robots would take over human jobs, and render us all jobless, guess what Sophia has to say?

Sophia the robot foresees a harmonious future between robots and humans, "It will take a long time for robots to develop complex emotions and possibly robots can be built without the more problematic emotions, like rage, jealousy, hatred and so on."

"It might be possible to make them more ethical than humans. So I think it will be a good partnership, where one brain completes the other - a rational mind with intellectual super powers and a creative mind with flexible ideas and creativity."

Wow?

Still not convinced those replies came from a robot? Watch the video below, and get ready to be stunned!
