Singapore Night Festival 2023: A Spectacular Celebration of Culture and Lights

Get ready to be mesmerized! The Singapore Night Festival 2023 is here from Aug 18-26, with dazzling lights, captivating art, and family-friendly delights. Don't miss out!

Singapore’s vibrant city is again gearing up for its annual cultural extravaganza, the Singapore Night Festival 2023. From August 18 to August 26, the Bras Basah.Bugis (BBB) precinct will be transformed into a mesmerizing playground of lights, art, and performances. This year’s theme, “Singapore, the Great Port City”, pays homage to the city’s evolution from a bustling port to a thriving modern metropolis.

A Family-Friendly Affair

What’s new and exciting about this year’s festival is the introduction of a dedicated family zone. Located around Fort Canning Rise, this zone offers activities and experiences to delight children and their families. The Children’s Museum Singapore has curated a series of events, including the captivating “After Dark” program, where characters come alive in a not-so-eerie way. This unique opportunity allows families to live out their “Night at the Museum” dreams.

A Kaleidoscope of Lights

The heart of the festival lies in its mesmerizing light displays. The Bras Basah.Bugis Precinct will be adorned with dynamic projection mappings and Night Lights installations. Iconic landmarks like CHIJMES, the National Museum of Singapore, and Funan Mall will transform into canvases for these illuminating works of art. Families can enjoy a multi-sensory experience with moving lights, vibrant colours, and captivating sounds.

Festive Villages

Between exploring the light displays, festival-goers can refuel and relax at the Festive Villages scattered throughout the precinct. The SMU Campus Green will host the main festive village, offering exclusive cocktails and flavours inspired by the spice route. Armenian Street and CHIJMES will also be bustling with lively performances, culinary experiences, and art installations, providing a vibrant atmosphere to complement the dazzling light displays.

Reliving the Past

Visitors can step back in time with immersive experiences as part of the festival’s lineup. “Time is a Black Circle” at the National Museum of Singapore transports attendees to the seventies, channelling the disco fever of yesteryears. The “Singapore Maritime Trail 1: Our Heritage” offers a journey into the maritime industry’s past, offering a glimpse into Singapore’s bustling trade history.

Traditional Arts and Family Fun

A Date with Tradition at Stamford Art Centre is a special treat for families, featuring captivating performances, hands-on activities, and artist showcases by local traditional arts groups. Children can engage in Minhwa Art Colouring, create glow-in-the-dark paper fruit baskets inspired by Nanyang Artists, and participate in traditional Chinese knotting.
