1. Science Behind Animal Behaviour Series: Shelter Dog Behaviour [FREE]

Join Trish McMillan, who holds a Master of Science degree in animal behaviour, as she reviews the science behind behaviour assessments and how it can guide decisions to achieve the most ethical outcome for shelter dogs. Pets’ Day Out (PDO) is back with our first-ever hybrid edition! We’ve got adorable four-legged friends looking for fur-ever homes, so if you wish to adopt a pet, come spend some time with them and find out more from our Animal Welfare Groups. Appointments are strictly by pre-registration due to limited capacity.
If you are a pet owner, pre-register online for a free pet health check by vets from the Animal & Veterinary Service. For those staying home, get in on the live action through our livestream and tune in to the interviews with animal experts. See you soon with our furry friends for a paw-sitively good time!

5. Human-wildlife Encounters: Small Mammals in Our City in Nature [FREE]
Join Cyrena Lin (NParks), Nicholas Chuan (NParks), Dr Benjamin Lee (NParks), Kannan Raja (HSS), Sankar Ananthanarayanan (HSS), Dr Abraham Mathew (WRS) and Dr Charlene Yeong (WRS) – in our sixth human-wildlife encounters webinar. All panellists are actively involved in the conservation of reptiles in Singapore. Together, they will share more about these animals, their biology, ethology, and distribution, and answer queries on what to do when we encounter them in our City in Nature.

Mark your calendars! From now till 11 September, a series of fun virtual activities have been planned to celebrate all things Pulau Ubin. This includes virtual tours exploring the island, as well as talks on the island’s rich biodiversity and history. The festivities will culminate with Ubin Day on 11 September. This event is made possible by the Friends of Ubin Network (FUN).

Save the date: Ubin Day marks the end of Pesta Ubin’s festivities! Look forward to virtual tours revealing a different side of Pulau Ubin, sharing by former and current residents on their memories of the island, as well as talks by NParks experts about the shorebirds of Ubin and history of Pekan Quarry. 9. Horticultural Competition [FREE]
Calling all green thumbs – be part of the SGF Hort Show 2021 by joining this competition! There are nine plant categories, such as carnivorous plants, ferns, aroids, and succulents. Plant submission takes place on 7 Oct (Thu) at Plant House, Singapore Botanic Gardens.
Date: 9 Oct (Sat) – 13 Oct (Wed); register by 30 Sep (Mon), 5 pm and submit plants on 7 Oct (Thu)
10. Nano Tank Aquascaping Competition [FREE]
Sign up to create a beautiful “underwater garden landscape” or aquascaping showcase within a 30 cm × 30 cm × 30 cm cube tank, as part of the SGF Hort Show 2021! Displays will have to be set up on 21 Oct (Thu) at Jurong Lake Gardens. Registration closes 19 Sep (Sun).

11. Orchid Competition [FREE]
Showcase your lovely orchid blooms in this competition, which is part of SGF Hort Show and co-organised with the Orchid Society of South East Asia. Plant submission takes place on 6 Oct (Wed) and 7 Oct (Thu) at Burkhill Hall, National Orchid Garden in the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

12. Change the Present Save the Future Exhibition [FREE]
Learn about how Singapore has been working to mitigate the effects of urbanisation and climate change, and how everyone has a part to play in building a resilient City in Nature.
This exhibition is jointly presented by City Developments Limited, National Parks Board and Singapore Botanic Gardens.
