Distraught Singapore mum discovers husband's alleged affair, tries to kill herself

A Singapore mum discovers husband's affair and it shatters her so much that she attempts to kill herself!

It was a rainy Sunday afternoon when the SCDF received an unexpected call. Apparently, a woman was cutting herself with a kitchen knife and standing dangerously on the 11th floor railing of a block.

Turns out, the Singapore mum had realised that her husband was cheating on her.

According to The New Paper, the incident happened at Block 289, Yishun Avenue 6 on Sunday (Jan 28), at around 2.28 pm.

When the SCDF arrived at the scene, 45-year-old mummy Cai Lili was perched precariously on the railing between the 11th and 12th floor of the block.

She was screaming and making a scene as she cut herself with a kitchen knife. She was also heard shouting for the SCDF to remove the safety cushion so she could jump.

In a dramatic rescue operation that took nearly 2 hours, and was carried out in heavy rain, SCDF officers managed to pull her back to safety. Police also managed to retrieve the 20 cm-long kitchen knife.

As many as 30 knife wounds were found on Cai’s legs, thighs and arms. She was rushed in an ambulance to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Police officers were also seen talking to two girls believed to be her daughters.

According to Shin Min Daily News, Cai had taken the extreme step after discovering her husband’s affair. She had even fought with him before the incident.

As per reports, a police spokesman revealed  that the mum was arrested for possessing a dangerous weapon, and attempted suicide.

Police are investigating the case.

We hope this mummy’s okay now. Hats off to SCDF for their bravery and persistence, in spite of terrible weather.

Singapore mums, if you need counselling and support, organisations like AWARE, PAVE and PPIS can help.
