Say "I Do" To An Easy Singapore Marriage Certificate Registration

Ready to tie the knot? Discover how to secure your Singapore Marriage Certificate hassle-free!

Hey there, lovebirds! If you’re planning to tie the knot in Singapore, we’ve got some exciting news for you. Starting September 25th, registering your marriage is about to get a whole lot easier and more convenient, thanks to the enhanced Our Marriage Journey portal.

This digital revolution, brought to you by the Registry of Marriages (ROM) and the Registry of Muslim Marriages (ROMM), is set to make your journey to the altar a breeze.

You know what’s great about the 21st century? The fact that you can now register your marriage online! No more paperwork hassles or standing in long queues. The Ministry of Social and Family Development and the Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth have joined forces to make this happen. With the upgraded portal, everything from filling out your application to receiving your marriage certificates can be done online.

Who’s Eligible?

Now, let’s talk eligibility. If you’re a Singaporean or a permanent resident aged 21 and above getting married for the first time, you’re in luck. You can take advantage of this online registration system. But for Muslim marriages, there’s a small catch – the bride’s lawful guardian (wali) must be her biological father for you to be eligible for the online declaration. No worries, though; it’s all part of the process to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Online Solemnisation: Here to Stay

Remember those virtual solemnisations that became a thing during the pandemic? Well, they’re here to stay! You’ll still need to be physically present in Singapore for the ceremony, but here’s the cool part: you won’t have to deal with a physical marriage certificate anymore. Instead, a digital certificate will be emailed to you after the ceremony – no more misplaced or forgotten certificates!

Personalized Certificates for Keepsakes

Want to add a personal touch to your special day? You can! Customize your ceremonial certificate to your liking and either print it yourselves or request one from ROM. It’s a lovely keepsake to remember your big day.

More Than Just Registration

But wait, there’s more! The enhanced portal doesn’t stop at registration. It’s a treasure trove of information about marriage preparation and mentoring programs. One of these gems is “Journey with You” (JOY), which pairs you up with licensed solemnisers who will be your mentors during your first year of marriage. Muslim couples can also benefit from “Bersamamu,” offering mentoring for the first two years of marriage.

Added Convenience for You

According to Timothy Pak, the ROM registrar, the online declaration means you won’t have to take time off work for in-person interviews at ROM anymore. It’s all about convenience for you. And no more worrying about carrying physical copies of your certificate on your big day. It’s all gone digital, making your wedding day stress-free.

Positive Vibes from Couples

Couples are loving the online declaration and solemnisation option. Take Mr. Yuvan Mohan, for example, a public policy professional who’s got not one but two weddings to prepare for – a Chinese one and a Hindu one. The online option is a time-saver for busy couples like him.

Your Marriage Journey, Simplified

So, there you have it – a digital makeover for marriage registration in Singapore. With the enhanced Our Marriage Journey portal, you’re in for a more modern, efficient, and convenient experience. Say goodbye to paperwork hassles and hello to a streamlined process.

For more info and assistance, visit https://www.marriage.gov.sg or reach out to the ROM hotline at 6338-7808 or the ROMM hotline at 6337-0207 for any questions about civil and Muslim marriage processes. Your journey to “I do” just got a whole lot smoother in Singapore!
