Simonboy's 4-Year Old Kid Megan Khung Starved, Beaten, Left to Die by Ex-Wife

3 Mar, 2025
Simonboy's 4-Year Old Kid Megan Khung Starved, Beaten, Left to Die by Ex-Wife

Wong and Foo left Megan’s body in their apartment for months, wrapping it in layers of cling wrap, cement, and a plastic storage box to prevent detection.

As parents, we do everything in our power to protect our children. But what happens when the very people entrusted with that care become the source of unimaginable harm?

The tragic case of four-year-old Megan Khung, whose life was cut short by abuse, neglect, and cruelty, has sent shockwaves through Singapore.

At just four years old, Megan should have been giggling over bedtime stories, playing at the playground, and feeling the warmth of a loving embrace. Instead, she spent her final days bruised, battered, and in unimaginable pain. Her cries for help left unheard until it was too late.

This is a case that exposes the horrors of unchecked abuse and a failure to protect a child who never had a chance to escape her tormentors. It is a harrowing reminder that child abuse is not just a distant horror. Something that can happen anywhere, even within our communities.

For over a year, Megan suffered unimaginable cruelty at the hands of her mother, Foo Li Ping, and her mother’s boyfriend, Wong Shi Xiang. The abuse included starvation, physical beatings, and being forced to sleep outside in harsh conditions.

Following the guilty pleas, content creator Simonboy, whose real name is Simon Khung, posted a series of emotional Instagram Stories on February 28, remembering his late daughter Megan and asking God to teach him forgiveness.

Sharing a black-and-white photo of himself with Megan, Simonboy wrote: “Have fun with Jesus. Till then, my precious baby.”

In another post, the 37-year-old prayed for God to “take this bitterness away from” his heart and to help him “forgive like how You have forgiven me.”

His posts came after The Straits Times reported that Foo pleaded guilty to three charges—child abuse, allowing the death of a child, and intentional disposal of a corpse to impede investigations. Meanwhile, CNA reported that Wong also pleaded guilty to four charges, including culpable homicide.

Timeline of Events Leading to the Abuse

  1. 2015 – Foo and Khung got married, and their daughter Megan was born in October.

  2. 2017 – Their relationship ended, and Foo moved to her mother’s house with Megan.

  3. 2018 – Foo started dating Wong, a freelance car mechanic.

  4. 2019

    • January: Foo moved in with Wong, and Megan stayed on weekends.
    • September: Megan moved in permanently.
    • February: The abuse began.

Fatal Blow

On February 21, 2020, Wong punched Megan in the stomach in a fit of anger. Despite her evident pain, neither Wong nor Foo sought medical attention. Instead, they consumed drugs with their friend, Nouvelle Chua Ruoshi, as the little girl lay in agony. Hours later, Megan succumbed to her injuries.

Realizing she had died, the couple attempted to resuscitate her using makeshift methods, including an improvised defibrillator made from metal chopsticks and electrical wires. When these efforts failed, they plotted to dispose of her body.

Wong and Foo left Megan’s body in their apartment for months, wrapping it in layers of cling wrap, cement, and a plastic storage box to prevent detection. Eventually, they built a custom-made barrel and incinerated her remains using a high-powered leaf blower, leaving no trace of the child’s body.

Convictions and Sentencing

Simonboys daughter, 4, made to eat from dustbin by her mums boyfriend who punched her to death

On February 28, 2025, the High Court convicted Wong and Foo of multiple offenses. Wong pleaded guilty to culpable homicide, impeding investigations, and drug-related charges. The prosecution is seeking a sentence of 28 to 30 years in prison, along with 15 to 17 strokes of the cane. His defense lawyer is arguing for a lighter sentence of 20 to 22 years with 11 strokes of the cane.

Foo pleaded guilty to allowing the death of a child, child abuse, and obstructing investigations. The prosecution is asking for 15 to 20 years in jail, while her lawyers are requesting no more than 11 years.

A third accomplice, Nouvelle Chua Ruoshi, is facing trial for her role in helping to dispose of Megan’s body.

Could Megan Have Been Saved?

When news of Megan’s death broke, an entire nation grieved. The public was outraged. How could this have happened? How could a child endure so much suffering without someone saving her in time?

Megan’s story is not just a tragedy. It is a warning. It raises urgent questions about how Singapore protects its most vulnerable children. While reports were made and concerns were raised, the system ultimately failed to remove Megan from her dangerous environment in time.

Child welfare groups are now pushing for stricter intervention laws, faster response times, and greater public awareness. Neighbors, teachers, and caregivers are being urged to report even the slightest suspicion of abuse.

Because every cry for help matters.

Megan’s short life was marked by suffering, but her story must serve a purpose. It must remind us all that silence can be deadly and that protecting our children is a responsibility we all share.

As Singapore mourns Megan, one question lingers…

How many more children will suffer before real change is made?
