12 signs you’re a 'kiasu' mum

31 May, 2016

It's a Singaporean trait, and sometimes being a mum brings it out of us.

12 signs you’re a 'kiasu' mum

Singaporeans can be a tad competitive. Couple that with a mum's worries and you get the "Kiasu" mum.

Here's a list of signs that will show that you're THAT mum.

#1 You’re always first to queue at a school concert, to be in the front row

That also means that you have to head there at a ridiculous hour.
#2 You’re always trying to win the ‘mum race’ at Sports Day

And nothing will stop you. Nothing.
#3 Your kids' lunch-boxes are filled with healthy organic food

"Some sacrifices must be made for your well-being, my child."
#4 You check with your kids’ friends who come over to see what spelling level they’re on

And you do a little victory dance when your little kid has done better.
#5 Your children are always squeaky clean. Crisp uniforms, shiny badges, polished shoes...

Yes, that's how your kid looks like after you are done with her.
#6 You want to be labeled as the ‘coolest mum’, so you allow your kids’ friends to have water fights, eat as much candy as they they want, play Justin Bieber on repeat (at parties at your place)

All within certain limits of course. (Or that's what you say).
#7 You organise the most fabulous gifts for Teachers’ Day

All perfectly wrapped, without a single crease.
#8 You’re the first to raise your hand for all school-related commitments - school fairs, plays, excursions...

"Well, I'm obviously the best choice".
#9 You never fail to look immaculate with well-manicured nails, a perfect mane of hair and impeccable dress sense

"Waiting up for me is a privilege others do not have."
#10 You make your kids read the chapter ahead of what’s being taught in class

#10 You make your kids read the chapter ahead of what’s being taught in class

Just like the Olympics motto, we want our kids to be faster (at doing work), higher ( in grades) and stronger (at academic prospects).
#11 You produce goodie bags which are way more expensive than any gift your child has ever gotten from a friend

And those little brats better appreciate them.
#12 Every single milestone and achievement has to be posted on social media

EVERYONE must know.
