Bestselling Items From Shizuoka Prefecture Are Debuting In Singapore For The First Time This October

Shizuoka prefecture is one of the largest growers of mikan oranges in Japan, one of the birthplaces of wasabi and one of the largest producers of green tea.

The prefecture of Shizuoka in Japan thrives with abundance of nature that stretches from the mountains to the seas. It is home to the World CulturalHeritage Site of Mount Fuji and also makes up the base for the Izu Peninsula that is recognized as a World UNESCO Geopark.

Ample natural sunshine all year round makes the prefecture an abundant source of seafood and mountain produce that is renowned all over the world.

Nestled right in the centre of Japan, approximately an hour and a half’s Shinkansen train ride from Tokyo and Nagoya, Shizuoka Prefecture is characterised by vast fields of green that stretch as far as the horizons.

Here, in green and divinely terraced fields, Shizuoka tea and Mikkabi oranges sweet and saccharine in the green rolling pastures.

Not only is Shizuokaoneof the largest growers of mikan oranges in Japan and one of the birthplaces of wasabi, it is also one of the largest producers of green tea.

Thanks to Singapore Home Cooks, an array of its best produce are being flown in to Singapore shoppers can get their hands on the mall from the comforts of their own home. From the total of 29 items, 28 are available for the first time in Singapore.

Look forward to regional specialties ranging from green tea powder that is expended through a clever pen-type contraption for ease of consumption to Mikkabi mandarin orange jelly sorbet and Shizuoka mikan buns.

There will also be crispy rice crackers, lightly seasoned and flavoured with wasabi, as well as an air-fried, low-calorie bonito fish snack. They sauce flavoured saba or mackerel ramen is also not to be missed.

These items along with many other prized Shizuoka products will be available for sale to the public via Singapore Home Cooks Facebook group live show on 4 October 2021 8pm.

A flavour of Japan is not complete without ramen and Shizuoka is known for its saba (mackerel)ramen that has been around for 189 years. With a stock that’s made with fresh fish and generous concentrations of mackerel extracts, simply cook the ramen as per the instructions and garnish with green chilies for a spicy kick. It is free from preservatives and additives.

The mackerel used comes from the Yaizu area, where ISAWEI is located, home to Yaizu Port. It is home to Japan’s largest port in terms of landings for five consecutive years.
