Juicy gossip on Shakira
For fans who weren’t expecting that Shakira is expecting, the news is now confirmed. The Columbian singer and her boyfriend, Spanish soccer star Gerard Piqué are going to be parents. Shakira made the announcement on her official website and Facebook page on September 19th, when she posted the following message in English and Spanish, “As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!”
Future plans on hold
The pregnancy seems to have made Shakira cancel her current and upcoming plans. It appears that the new mother is taking a ‘Whenever, Wherever’ approach to her work schedule, as she also stated on her official website:
“At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days.”
One of these “promotional activities” includes an upcoming appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. However, Shakira will replace Christina Aguilera as a judge for the next season of the music reality-show The Voice.
Shakira, 35, and Piqué, aged 25, central defender for FC Barcelona, have been seeing each other for the past two years. But Shakira only confirmed their relationship in March 2011, when she posted a picture of them together on her Facebook page, with the caption, “I present to you my sunshine.” in Spanish.
