Students’ Educational Pursuits Furthered Through Singapore Government Staff Credit Cooperative’s Annual Bursary Awards

In total, 118 deserving students will receive a cash award of S$75 to S$1,000 each, according to their educational level, from Primary 2 to tertiary level. The total grant amounts to S$26,450 this year.

Singapore Government Staff Credit Cooperative Society Ltd (“SGSCC”) presents 80 students with bursary awards at the presentation ceremony with Guest-of-Honour, Ms Yeo Wan Ling, Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, at their 98th year Annual Bursary Awards 2023 held at the Civil Service Club, Tessensohn Club House.

Another 38 students in lower primary to secondary will receive their awards by mail.

In total, 118 deserving students will receive a cash award of S$75 to S$1,000 each, according to their educational level, from Primary 2 to tertiary level. The total grant amounts to S$26,450 this year.

“Youths are the driving force for our future in all aspects including moving Singapore forward and ensuring a sustainable future.

Scholarships and bursaries are an essential part of the fabric for supporting our youths and inspiring them to do better. I have personally met many such recipients who give back when they have done well later in life; ergo I hope these youth will do so too,” says Ms Yeo Wan Ling.

Singapore’s first and oldest credit co-operative, SGSCC, gives out educational bursary awards to children of its members in support of their educational pursuits each year. First initiated in 1974, the co-operative has since granted more than S$1 million in recognition of the students’ diligent efforts, and to motivate and encourage them to achieve even more.

Mr John Raghavan, Chairman, SGSCC, says,

“As a social enterprise, we are proud to support the aspirations of our children through our annual bursary awards. We hope this award will give them the confidence to further their studies for a brighter future ahead.”

SGSCC’s Annual Bursary Awards is made possible through the collective contribution from 7,000 members of the non-profit credit co-operative. Through members’ subscription, SGSCC provides financial services for its members by helping them with financial support to promote financial stability.
