But there are actually a lot of hidden gems not a lot know about and may be completely unknown to some of the locals!

So where exactly are these well-kept secrets which promise a few hours or even a whole day of fun and discovery for the whole family? Have a look through our fantastic list to find out!

Viknesh Dairy Farm

This renowned dairy farm is a major leading milk supplier in Singapore which also offers free home delivery of fresh cow milk right to your doorstep for $6.00 per litre (only with a minimum order of 5 litres).

Your kids will squeal with delight as they get to feed the gentle cows and cute calves and for a small fee, Raja the owner will even give you a personal guided tour around his farm and a bottle of fresh milk to take home.

They can even provide special services by bringing down their live stocks for your events such as exhibitions, functions, shows, ceremonies, weddings, house blessings, bull cart rides and temple prayers.

There you will learn how to make a healthy Malay dish called Nasi Kerabu (herbed rice), using 30 different types of wild jungle herbs which will be collected around the house, delicious Sambal Belachan Tumis, mouth-watering Butter Prawns, and the popular dessert, Ice Kacang.

We bet you didn't know that Singapore is home to the world's very first Swiftlet Garden Museum, where you can discover more about this underrated bird species on an educational guided tour, learn the history of bird's nest, explore their unique cave and house nests, understand the past and present processing techniques and find out the health benefits of bird's nest.

There will even be a majestic display of swiftlets hovering above you during the live bird calling demonstration, which should excite your little ones.

Mention Arab Street and Kampong Glam to most people in Singapore and they will automatically associate it with delectable Middle Eastern eateries, artsy Hipster cafes, mysterious perfume shops and exquisite fabric stores.

But tucked away in one of the two-storey shophouses in front of the Sultan Mosque, you will be greeted by an adult-sized robot standing in the doorway of this fascinating passage through time, back to the yesteryears of chapteh, gramophones, Vespa motorbikes, handmade kites and other vintage collectibles.

For a small token fee, you can go up to the second floor where you will find a neatly curated mini museum with interesting interactive exhibits which were built by hand, funky shelf displays to remind you of days gone by, or have a bit of fun at the DIY Toy Workshop to make original creations out of natural materials.

Mandai Mangrove

Looking for a bit of adventure in the great outdoors with your kids? Why not try your hands at kayaking through one of the largest patch of mangrove forest on mainland Singapore?

This wild mangrove is considered an important biodiversity area of Singapore which is also the feeding ground for migratory shorebirds such as sandpipers, plovers and egrets, and is known to be a dense breeding population of the Mangrove Horseshoe Crab.

You can even catch a glimpse of the old Kampong Lorong Fatimah, which used to be a Malay village where some of the houses were built on stilts and was mostly inhabited by fishermen and boatman back in the day.
