On Monday (7 February), at around 8.10 am, the school bus allegedly lost control and overturned along a Central Expressway slip road towards Seletar West Link.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said two people riding the vehicle were taken to Sengkang General Hospital. Meanwhile, another seven were brought to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH).

It was also noted that these nine people, aged six to 60 years old, were conscious at the time as per the police. The seven taken to KKH are believed to be students from the school, and the other two are said to be female drivers and bus attendants.

School Bus Completely Toppled Over and Lying on Its Side

As seen in the photos, the school bus was lying on its side with a shattered windshield and damaged roof. There was liquid leaking out of the vehicle, presumed to be engine oil. Papers could also be seen scattered all over the place.

A man who only wanted to be known as Mr Zhang told Shin Min Daily News that the driver and the students appeared to have minor cuts and bruises on their heads, faces, and limbs.

He added, “The children were trembling with fear.”

He continued to share how some passers-by helped the students out of the vehicle and brought them to the wide of the road.

To prevent the bus from igniting, they also placed toilet paper and a military uniform on top of the vehicle’s oil.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
