11-Year-Old Boy And Driver Taken To Hospital After Accident Between Mercedes And Vellfire

In a tragic incident, a driver and an 11-year-old passenger were injured in an accident at the junction of Bartley Road and Upper Serangoon Road on November 25, 2021.

The video of the road accident in Singapore 2021 was thereafter uploaded on SG Road Vigilante.

Road Accident In Singapore 2021: Massive Crash Between Mercedes And Vellfire

The accident took place between a silver hatchback car and a white Toyota Vellfire minivan at Upper Serangoon road. It was seen in the camera that as the Vellfire crossed the traffic lights, the Mercedes driving straight collided into the side of the minivan. As a result of the heavy impact, the Vellfire flipped. 

Later, the driver of the Mercedes was seen trying to get out of his car. He then made his way to the other side of the car, possibly to check on something. 

In the 55-second video that was uploaded on YouTube, a white Toyota MPV can be seen getting overturned on a curb, while a grey Mercedes-Benz with its bonnet crushed is in the middle of the junction.

Police Arrive At The Scene, 11-Year-Old Boy And Driver Rushed To Hospital

The policemen were later at the scene and were seen manning the traffic which was affected due to the accident. In fact, they were alerted about the accident at 4:14 pm. The injured, 46-year-old male driver and 11-year-old passenger were conscious when they were taken to the hospital.

According to reports, the 46-year-old driver was taken to Raffles Hospital while the boy, who was in the other car, was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

A probe is currently on to find more details about the accident. The accident occupied three out of the four lanes along Upper Serangoon Road.

Three Vehicle Collision Near Marina Bay Sands

In a similar incident that took place a few weeks ago, two men were admitted to the hospital after a collision involving three vehicles near Marina Bay Sands.

The accident was among two cars and a taxi at the intersection of Marine Boulevard and Bayfront Avenue.

Police informed that a car was overturned, and two of the drivers needed medical assistance. The taxi driver, 69, and the car driver, 43, were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

You will be shocked to learn that Singapore actually has the second-highest road fatality rate. The island’s road fatality rate of 2.73 per 100,000 citizens is higher than in Hong Kong, London and Tokyo. 

Elderly pedestrians accounted for two-thirds of all pedestrian fatalities. In fact, one in two accidents involved elderly pedestrians jaywalking. 

On top of it, motorists and the pillion riders accounted for one in two of the overall road fatalities. 

The number of fatal accidents also increased slightly by 2.6% to 120 in 2018, from 117 in 2017. Similarly, the number of fatalities also increased by 2.5% to 124 in 2018, from 121 in 2017.
