Finding a happy ending in Hollywood can be challenging, especially if both of you are actors. At least that’s what Scarlett Johansson believes.
In a new interview with Cosmopolitan magazine, the Tony award winning actress may have just revealed the real reason behind her split with fellow actor Ryan Reynolds.
The two were married in 2009 and were together for two years before calling it quits.
“The logistics of being with another actor are challenging,” she says in the magazine’s cover story. “There has to be a real understanding of how you share your time, especially when two people’s careers are going at the same rate. Or even if one person is more successful than the other, that also proves challenging. There may be a competitive thing.”
Back in 2011, they cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split but it looks like Scarlett has just revealed more details.
In another previous interview, Scarlett hinted at this yet again, telling Parade magazine that dating another actor can be “volatile”.

Balancing fame with marriage proved to be a challenge.
“Acting is a very strange world to be co-existing in. It’s very volatile. There’s always going to be the more successful person,” she told Parade. “It’s related to rejection. Because actors, if they’re not having success, connect it directly to unpopularity — to the fact that nobody wants them. It’s not necessarily true. I’m constantly rejected.”
Scarlett has both critically-acclaimed films as well as mainstream blockbuster hits under her belt. Her most memorable ones to date are Her, Lost in Translation, and the Avengers. So it’s safe to say that she’s achieved much success.
But Ryan has made a name for himself as a blockbuster leading man in films such as Deadpool, The Proposal, and Green Lantern.
When he met current wife Blake Lively on the set of Green Lantern, it seemed like he doesn’t find what Scarlett claims to be true. He and Blake were married in 2012 and have been together for nearly four years.
Their daughter, James, is one year old.

“There’s always going to be the more successful person. It’s related to rejection. Because actors, if they’re not having success, connect it directly to unpopularity — to the fact that nobody wants them… [Marriage] takes a lot of work,” Scarlett told Parade. “It takes a man who’s not only confident in the love that you have for one another, but confident in what he has going on in his own career.”
Looks like Scarlett found just that in French journalist Romain Dauriac.
“My husband’s also involved in art,” she explained. “What’s important to him is the recognition that he gets from his job, and that has nothing to do with my job.”

On married life, she revealed, “We’re interested in each other’s worlds. He’s interested in my weird, alien entertainment world. It fascinates him because it’s so different than what he knows. And I like to go to art openings with him and talk about art and emerging artists with him. That’s his passion.”
Their daughter Rose is 7 months old.
“The biggest joy that I have is looking at my daughter,” she marveled. “When I’m just hanging out with her and we’re doing silly stuff and if I make her laugh, the feeling of joy I have is explosive. If I can make her laugh and she gets a big smile on her face, that’s pretty much it. If only you could actually bottle that and carry it around.”
It’s good to know it all worked out in the end. They’re proof that the best partnerships come naturally but they do take a lot of work.
