Road Closures on Jul. 15 & 16 for NE Show at Padang: Plan Your Weekend Route Now!

In order to accommodate the upcoming National Education (NE) Show 3 at the Padang this weekend, several roads and lanes will be closed to vehicular traffic. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has announced the affected areas of road closures and urged motorists to plan their routes accordingly.

Event Details

NE Show 3, a highly anticipated educational event, is scheduled to take place at the Padang on Saturday, July 15. To ensure the smooth running of the event, the SPF has arranged for temporary road closures during specific timeframes.

Affected Roads and Lanes of Road Closures

The following road closures will be enforced for vehicular traffic as per the stipulated periods provided by the SPF:

Coleman Lane

  • Coleman Lane: The section between Coleman Street and lamp post 3F will be temporarily converted into a two-way road from 1 pm to 3 pm and 6:30 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, July 15. Access will be restricted to authorized vehicles, police, and emergency vehicles only.

Assistance and Directions

To facilitate the traffic flow during the road closures, a significant number of police officers, auxiliary police officers, security officers, and Singapore Armed Forces marshals will be deployed at affected junctions. Their primary role will be to assist and direct motorists, ensuring minimal disruption and inconvenience.

Expect Traffic Delays Due to Road Closures

Motorists should anticipate traffic delays due to road closures along the following roads:

  • Bayfront Avenue

  • Beach Road

  • Bras Basah Road

  • Collyer Quay

  • Guillemard Road

  • Hill Street

  • Mountbatten Road

  • North Bridge Road

  • Raffles Avenue

  • Raffles Boulevard

  • Republic Boulevard

  • Temasek Avenue

  • Temasek Boulevard

  • Victoria Street

In light of these road closures and potential congestion, it is strongly advised that motorists plan their routes in advance and avoid the affected roads if possible.

Utilize Public Transport for Road Closures

The SPF strongly encourages members of the public travelling to the affected areas to utilize public transport options. By utilizing buses, trains, or other forms of public transportation, individuals can help alleviate traffic congestion and ensure a smoother experience for all.

Additionally, this approach not only reduces the number of private vehicles on the road but also promotes environmental sustainability.

Moreover, public transport systems offer the advantage of efficient routes and schedules, making them a convenient and time-saving choice.

Alternative Route for Motorists

Motorists heading to Suntec City and Marina Square from Bayfront Avenue, Bras Basah Road, Esplanade Drive, or Nicoll Highway are advised to take an alternate route via Rochor Road leading to Temasek Boulevard. By opting for this alternative route, drivers can bypass potential traffic congestion and reach their destination more efficiently.

Moreover, taking Rochor Road offers the advantage of a scenic drive, allowing motorists to enjoy the surrounding cityscape.

Additionally, this detour provides an opportunity to explore different parts of the city, adding to the overall experience of the journey.

Parking Restrictions and Enforcement

Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced along the affected roads. The SPF emphasizes that vehicles parked illegally or causing obstruction will be towed away. To avoid any inconvenience or penalties, it is essential for motorists to comply with these regulations.

Safety Precautions During the Event

During the NE Show 3 event, the SPF strongly advises members of the public to refrain from engaging in any aerial activities such as flying unmanned aircraft, kite-flying, or hoisting tethered balloons in the area and its vicinity. These safety precautions are implemented to ensure the well-being and security of all attendees.

With proper planning and cooperation, the road closures for the National Education Show 3 can be managed effectively, enabling the event to run smoothly.

Motorists and members of the public are urged to stay updated with the latest traffic advisories and plan their journeys accordingly.
