5 reasons women leave their husbands

3 Feb, 2016

It has been reported that when a marriage ends, the woman is the one who files for divorce two thirds of the time. Read on to find out why that could be the case

5 reasons women leave their husbands

5 reasons women leave their husbands

While a man might leave a marriage for lack of intimacy or generally not being a priority in his wife's life, a woman leaves a marriage for a myriad of reasons.

These are just some of the few reasons why women leave their husbands:
#1 Trying to 'win' all the time

#1 Trying to 'win' all the time

Most women tend to leave their husbands because of the accumulated years being in an abusive relationship where the man doesn't necessarily physically abuse her, but is constantly at her throat and being controlling.

Marriage works best when two entities of an entirely different background or interests come together to find common ground. It isn't about who's right and who's wrong. Comparing your personalities and using that as a base for every argument is an example of abusive behaviour.

You should always remind yourself that a marriage isn't about being compatible with each other, it's about being committed to one another.
#2 Lack of effective communication

#2 Lack of effective communication

In every conflict, no two people will ever agree all the time. Rather, the key is to notice differences and adapt to it instead of trying to avoid them. Withdrawing, refusing to talk about problems or withholding your thoughts.

A particularly toxic pattern is when one spouse deals constructively by calmly discussing the situation, listening to their partner's point of view, or trying hard to find out what their partner is feeling while the other spouse withdraws. The best way to resolve conflict is to have effective communication and staying calm when working towards resolution.
#3 Lost of emotional connection

#3 Lost of emotional connection

Couples tend to loose their 'spark' and connection especially after years of marriage. Men crave intimacy and physical affection -- that's what makes that instant re-connection for them.

When women look for companionship in a marriage, it is more often for an emotional purpose -- they want to be known and heard. The most successful husbands know what their wives like and what their wives think.
#4 Not being a part of the family at all

#4 Not being a part of the family at all

If the husband is the primary breadwinner, more often than not, he gradually gets disengaged with what's going on with his family. Is his daughter doing alright in school? Does his son get along well with his soccer buddies? All these little problems tend to be noticed mostly by their mothers and less likely the breadwinner of the family -- their dad.

Constantly not being able to be there for her children will most likely be a reason as to why she feels the need to leave her husband because he is technically never there at all.
#5 Financial differences

#5 Financial differences

Generally, most people think that the lack of sufficient funds may be the reason women leave their husbands but that isn't entirely true. Divorces more likely occur because of different expectations for the way finances are managed.

A wife may organise and plan her finances a different way; saving money according to family needs, future education for her kids and monthly errands. Her husband may want to take more risks by investing with the money and or spending it more freely — or it could be just the reverse.

The point is that spouses often don't see money in quite the same way. It's important to talk openly about finances and come to a consensus on how best to manage them.
