10 Mums share why parenthood is worth it!

18 Oct, 2015

Children are gifts and miracles. Amidst crazy days, parents embrace the new chapters in their lives, and we spoke to mums to find out why parenthood is one of the best things that has happened!

Parenthood – a new chapter that might have caught some unawares, and for others, excited to start!

While parenting may seem like a daunting journey, especially for would-be parents and new parents, there are moments in this new chapter that make us feel like parenthood is all worth it! Yes, that means sleepless nights, cranky babies and much lesser attention for the partner.

We spoke to mums and dads to discover why they feel that having children is the best thing that happened. Let’s find out what they have to share!

"I learn lots of things from them!"

"I learn lots of things from them!"

"Parenthood improves my patience level and efficient multi-tasking! Not only do kids learn things from us, I learn lots of things from them too! (Eg: be happy, bye-bye to worries!)" - Lai Xiuli, mum to Belvia and Benzer, cake decorator at Mess with Cakes.
“Whatever I put into parenthood, I get equally much, arguably more, in return."

“Whatever I put into parenthood, I get equally much, arguably more, in return."

"Whatever I put into parenthood, I get arguably more in return. Living vicariously through them, nothing is more joyous than their laughter, nothing makes me prouder than their achievements, nothing makes my heart break harder than when they have been hurt and above all else, to love, fearlessly and wholeheartedly. " - Julia Guo, mum to Erin and Eva, mumpreneur at Milk und Mayhem.
"She makes me feel like a rockstar."

"She makes me feel like a rockstar."

"I forget about the long day I've had at work as soon as I come home and my toddler rushes to greet me with the biggest smile on her face, yelling, "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" She makes me feel like a rockstar." - Carla Casanova-Perlas, mum to Cadey and Naomi

"A journey of rediscovery everyday of how happiness is really a good chuckle about the most inane of things."

"A journey of rediscovery everyday of how happiness is really a good chuckle about the most inane of things."

"Parenthood is worth it because your child leads you on a journey of rediscovery everyday of how happiness is really a good chuckle about the most inane of things like the caterpillar that walks funny or the monkey faces you make in the mirror. The miracle of creation in the small things." - Ang Lifan, mum to Paige
"A bumpy journey but a rewarding and blessed one nonetheless.”

"A bumpy journey but a rewarding and blessed one nonetheless.”

"I strive to be a supermom and fail miserably on certain days. But it's such a great feeling to know that my unconditional love means so much to two miracle children. The smiles on their faces is something priceless that fills my heart and takes away all the exhaustion. Parenthood -- a bumpy journey but a rewarding and blessed one nonetheless." - Janice Wong, mum to Kaelyn and Kaeven, mummy blogger at The Mish Mash Mess.

"Holding her was a sense of permanence."

"Holding her was a sense of permanence."

"My first thought when I held my daughter was: You can never walk away from this. I was a complete drifter before that, but holding her was a sense of permanence." - Sumati Nagrath, mum to Vedika
"A worthy rollicking journey of growth."

"A worthy rollicking journey of growth."

"Parenthood is a worthy rollicking journey of growth with mini human beings who has the uncanny and funny abilities to mirror us, the parents, without effort." - Joyce Rachel Lee Bates, mum to Luke, mummy blogger at Joy ‘N’ Escapade
"I forget every stress I have outside of home."

"I forget every stress I have outside of home."

"I gave up partying which I used to do almost everyday. As much as I am tired from work, I always feel refreshed when I see my daughter and forget every stress I have outside home. She always makes my day." - Natt Ford, mum to Erika

"It makes me realize I can love a little tiny human being."

"It makes me realize I can love a little tiny human being."

"Parenthood, especially motherhood, is an amazing journey. It teaches you patience, perseverance, listening ear, awareness 24/7 even in our sleep, good reflex and all other benefits. For me personally it makes me realize I can love a little tiny human being that’s part of my husband and I." - Silvia Tan, mum to Eleanor
"Instantly sends my heart soaring with this miracle gift."

"Instantly sends my heart soaring with this miracle gift."

"We can never be ready enough for parenthood, even as we embark on this lifelong learning lesson with our children. Amidst sleep debts, challenges and everything in between, when the little one does the simplest, sweetest actions such as surprise hugs, patting me when I'm unwell or sharing her favourite food with me, instantly sends my heart soaring with this miracle creation." - Cindy Gan, mum to Vera.

Mums, do leave a comment below and share with us why you feel that parenthood is all worth it for you too!
