Raoul Sharma Shines in Cambodia's SEA Games, Steals Volunteer's Heart

Witness how Singapore's cricketer Raoul Sharma captured the hearts of Cambodian SEA Games volunteers in a heartwarming encounter. You won't believe their reaction!

Singapore cricketer Raoul Sharma, a member of the national men’s cricket squad, made headlines during the recent SEA Games in Cambodia.

Raoul is a member of Singapore’s men’s cricket team. Singapore won bronze in the Men’s T20 Cricket event at the SEA Games, led by Rezza Gaznavi. Raoul hit a key 26-run knock off 16 balls in the high-stakes bronze medal match against Indonesia. His quick-fire knock helped Singapore post a respectable first-innings total of 162 runs.

With his bowling, Raoul also contributed to restricting the Indonesian batters. When Ferdinando Banunaek threatened to cost Singapore the game, the 19-year-old dismissed him. In the game, Raoul Sharma demonstrated his significance as a T20 player. He will now be working to advance cricket in Singapore.

Sharma and his team emerged triumphant in the sixes tournament, bringing glory to Singapore. Beyond the sporting success, Sharma captured the hearts of Cambodian SEA Games volunteers.

A TikTok video showcased a female volunteer enthusiastically requesting a photo with Sharma, igniting a heartwarming chain of interactions. Sharma expressed his surprise at the overwhelming attention and praised the Cambodian volunteers for their kindness and warmth.

In a video that has gone viral on TikTok, Sharma shared his unexpected encounter: “I had no idea what was going on. I just stepped out of my team tent to go to the toilet when one of the volunteers ran up to ask me to take a picture with them.” He added that he posed with around 20 to 30 Cambodian volunteers, who were “very forthcoming, kind and friendly.” Sharma, who has returned to Singapore, told The Straits Times about his experience.

The video quickly went viral, garnering 1.1 million views and eliciting positive comments from appreciative viewers.

A TikTok user commented on the heartwarming moment, saying, “It’s nice to see these athletes giving their time for the fans.” Many others swooned over Sharma’s good looks, with some expressing their desire to become Games volunteers themselves.
