Punjab Grill is a well-known Indian fine dining restaurant that has garnered numerous distinctions, including that of being featured on CNN as one of the “5 best Indian restaurants in Singapore.”
Parents who are looking for the perfect place for a great night away from the kids will certainly appreciate the restaurant’s ambience and food.
Situated in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Punjab Grill’s look is inspired by the grandeur of India’s maharajahs. As a bonus, the service staff is prompt and courteous, making diners truly feel like royalty.
The stunning interior of Punjab Grill
Of course, what really matters most to diners when they visit a restaurant is the food, and Punjab Grill certainly doesn’t disappoint — their dishes are simply delicious, bursting with complex flavours derived from exotic spices.
The complementary poppadoms at Punjab Grill, accompanied by delicious chutneys and raita
Here’s a glimpse of what you can enjoy at Punjab Grill if you order their 5-course degustation menu (non-vegetarian — S$95), which features some of the most popular dishes on their menu.
Featured above is the very elegant Golgappa Platter. You pop one of those small, golden spheres made of wholewheat into your mouth, and take a sip of the pale green liquid in the shot glass.
Once you’ve done so, expect your palate to be awash with the flavours of sweet, tangy tamarind and spicy coriander. It’s a truly remarkable — and totally delicious — flavour combination!
The dish shown above looks simple enough — but when you taste it, you will realise that “simple” is certainly not the word to describe it.
This Murgh Badami Shorba is a delicate consommé made with free-range chicken, with almonds added for a creamy touch. Paired with the Golgappa Platter, it’s a great way to start your meal.
3 delicious Indian treats from Punjab Grill on 1 plate!
The dish you see above features 3 incredible taste sensations on one plate.
At the far left is Tandoor Jheenga. This is a plump and juicy tiger prawn cooked in the tandoor oven, which bursts with the flavour of fresh citrus and ajwain (carom seeds).
In the middle is Chaamp Taajdaar, a succulent New Zealand lamb chop that has been marinated with cloves, black cardamon and kassori methi (dried fenugreek leaves). It is then grilled in the tandoor to a perfect medium-rare.
On the far right is Salmon Tikka, a generous piece of Norwegian salmon cooked to a perfect pink in the middle, and flavoured with dill.
Above is Punjab Grill’s Gosht Ki Biryani or mutton biryani. Tender chunks of mutton sit within a mound of fragrant basmati rice.
For a modern twist and a dose of veggies, the dish comes with a delicious little side of vegetables nestled in a delicate pastry cup.
Yummy curries from Punjab Grill
By the time you’re done with all the previously featured dishes, you’re going to be comfortably full, but you can certainly find more space in your stomachs for this trio of tasty curries accompanied with hot, flaky assorted naan breads.
On the left is Murgh Makhani — juicy chunks of tandoor-grilled chicken enveloped in a thick, silky sauce made of tomato and cashew, and flavoured with dried fenugreek leaves.
In the middle is Daal Punjab Grill, a delicious dish of black lentils, tomato puree, spices and mustard oil, simmered overnight to produce a rich and very satisfying curry.
And on the right is Patiala Shahi Machchi . This dish is the Princely house of Patiala’s favourite fish delicacy so you’re in the league of royalty when you taste this!
What is it? Chunks of river sole, flash fried till soft and delicate and cooked in a tangy, spice-tinged dried plum and tomato gravy.
No meal at Punjab Grill is complete without dessert!
Although Punjab Grill is more known for its main dishes (like the Tandoori Foie Gras), their dessert is certainly not to be missed. The picture above shows three dessert items included in 5-course menu:
On the left is Lychee Ki Tehri, a creamy sweet with the delicate flavour of lychee permeating it.
In the middle is a pretty pink Rose Petal Cheesecake that tastes as good as it looks.
Lastly, on the right is that famous Indian version of ice cream known as Kulfi — and this one is flavoured with saffron and pistachio… sweet, creamy and leaving you craving for more!
