A video circulating on social media showed bright red flames within the vicinity of the landed property, releasing thick smoke that rose into the air.
Passers-by stopped and watched from a distance as fire engines arrived at the scene to put out the flames.
SCDF told AsiaOne that it was alerted to the fire at around 7pm, and “conducted forced entry into the premises,” noting that no one was on the premises at the time of the fire.
The fire, which involved contents in the pre-school, was largely confined to the front portion of the premises.
SCDF extinguished the fire using two water jets, adding that the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Even at a young age, it is important that young children are guided on what to do in case of a fire emergency. We can teach preschool students basic fire drill procedures for their safety and well-being.
Here are basic practices when handling fire drills at preschools:
- First things first, remain calm. Try to guide the children away from the fire in a calm manner without causing them to panic.
- Identify all possible exits. Quickly identify where the fire may be coming from and move on to evacuate everyone.
- Do a headcount. Make sure that all the children are together and that no one is left behind when you leave the premises.
- Leave all unimportant things behind. While guiding the children to the exit, ensure that no one tries to go back for any of their toys, books, etc.
- Confine as much of the fire as possible. Close all the doors and windows you come across to keep the fire from growing.
