On Sunday, 1 June 2025, Singapore will come together to celebrate its 60th year of independence with the Peace and Prosperity Singapura SG60 Walkathon (PPSG SG60 Walkathon). Organised by Tao One Care Ltd, this event not only marks the nation’s milestone but also commemorates Tao One’s 10th anniversary. The walkathon aims to set a new Singapore record by displaying 60 giant flags, each adorned with Chinese blessing phrases symbolising the nation’s journey of prosperity and harmony.
The event will be graced by former President Madam Halimah Yacob, who will serve as the Guest of Honour, leading participants in a 5km walk that showcases Singapore’s multicultural spirit.
A Symbol of Harmony — What the Walkathon Represents
The PPSG Walkathon, first inaugurated in 2019 during Singapore’s Bicentennial, has been a platform for celebrating the nation’s multiculturalism and social cohesion. With over 2,500 participants from diverse racial and religious backgrounds in its inaugural event, the walkathon emphasised the strength found in unity. This year’s edition continues that legacy, reflecting on Singapore’s development over the past six decades and promoting a message of peace and prosperity.
Key Highlights of the 2025 PPSG SG60 Walkathon
Setting a New Singapore Record
A central feature of the 2025 walkathon is the display of 60 giant flags, each featuring Chinese blessing phrases. These flags, sponsored by over 50 individuals and organisations, symbolise Singapore’s growth and the collective aspirations of its people. The display aims to set a new national record, underscoring the event’s significance.
Multicultural Performances
Participants will be treated to a variety of traditional performances, including Malay Kompang and Indian drum ensembles. These performances highlight Singapore’s rich cultural tapestry and the harmonious coexistence of its diverse communities.
Commemorative Souvenir Packs
All registered participants will receive a goodie bag containing an event T-shirt, an umbrella, a water bottle, and refreshments. These souvenirs serve as mementoes of the occasion and symbolise the unity and spirit of the nation.
The 5km Walking Route
The walkathon will commence at imPAct@Hong Lim Green and conclude at Marina Barrage, covering a 5km route that passes several of Singapore’s iconic landmarks. This journey not only offers participants a chance to engage in a healthy activity but also to reflect on the nation’s progress and the importance of unity.
