Navy@Vivo, a celebration of maritime strength and heritage, sets sail once again after a four-year hiatus, returning with an immersive experience from the 17th to the 19th of November 2023 at VivoCity. The much-anticipated Navy@Vivo 2023 (NV23) is an open invitation to all, offering a window into the vital role played by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests.
Discovering Maritime Importance
A centrepiece of the event is the interactive shore exhibition, illuminating the significance of the sea to Singapore’s identity and the indispensable role of the Navy as the guardian of the nation’s maritime sovereignty. At Central Court, VivoCity, visitors can dive into a multi-sensory experience, understanding how the Navy tackles surface, air, and sub-surface threats through a state-of-the-art immersive theatre.
An unprecedented opportunity presents itself: a glimpse into the underwater world with a new submarine exhibit, allowing guests to fathom the intricacies of underwater operations. The hands-on experience with virtual simulators, akin to those used by the Navy, promises an engaging understanding of naval training.
Exploration and Adventure Aboard the RSS Endeavour
Embark on an adventure aboard the RSS Endeavour, an Endurance-class Landing Ship Tank (LST), to witness firsthand the operations and capabilities of one of the Navy’s largest vessels. Ascend through the ship’s decks, experiencing the inner workings of the LST while exploring the roles and exercises the ship undertakes.
The addition of the S-70B Seahawk Naval Helicopter on the flight deck further elucidates its diverse operational support.
Fast Craft Utility Ride: A Maritime Journey
An exhilarating voyage on the Fast Craft Utility (FCUs) offers breathtaking views of Singapore’s skyline. As the FCUs traverse the southern coastline, passengers can relish tales of Tanjong Berlayer and Long Ya Men, witness the oil refineries on Bukom Island, and pass by bustling container terminals, vital lifelines of Singapore’s everyday essentials.
Captivating Performances and Demonstrations
At the VivoCity Amphitheatre, enjoy riveting performances by the SAF Music and Drama Company, while witnessing the remarkable physical prowess of the Naval Diving Unit (NDU) during their boat physical training demonstration. The synergy of music and physical prowess promises to keep audiences engaged and entertained.
A Night Under the Stars with the SAF Central Band
Concluding the evening under the night sky, the SAF Central Band takes centre stage, serenading the audience with popular melodies from movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Little Mermaid, along with the Singapore Navy’s anthemic composition “Onwards and Upwards.”
Engaging Storytelling Sessions
For the younger audience, a special treat awaits at library@harbourfront. Engage in captivating storytelling sessions as Navy personnel present stories from the “Ahoy, Navy!” series of children’s books. Each session brings forth a new tale, promising an enchanting experience for the little ones.
