Single room guaranteed at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital!

21 May, 2014

It has been 16 years since a hospital in Singapore opened up a new maternity ward to cater to the needs of new mums and their precious bundles of joy.

The new Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital was the first to break this ‘dry spell’ by unveiling a brand new maternity ward in March this year.

Boasting of an all-single-room setup, mums-to-be can now welcome their newborns comfortably in the privacy of their own rooms during their stay at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital.

We were invited last month to check out the new maternity ward at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital.

If you have yet to get a first look at the maternity ward at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, be sure to click through our gallery of pictures here for an exclusive sneak peek!

Meeting the rising demands of single rooms

Meeting the rising demands of single rooms

Over the years, there has been an increased demand of mums opting for single rooms at Mount Elizabeth Hospital (the sister hospital of Mount Elizabeth Novena):

Over 50% of mums delivering at Mouth Elizabeth Hospital were placed in single rooms. In 2013, this shot up to over 80%.

Thus, the new 12-room maternity ward at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital will definitely help to meet this rising demand. Thanks to its all-single-room setup, Mount Elizabeth Novena will be the only hospital in Singapore that guarantees a single-room experience, to date.

A natural progression

A natural progression

Many doctors and expectant mums have welcomed the move of Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital to have an all-single-room setup in the maternity ward.

According to Dr Kelvin Loh, Chief Executive Officer of Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, the new addition of a maternity ward is "a natural extension of the hospital’s existing expertise and capabilities" in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O & G), and a great move towards improving the hospital’s suite of service.
