What was The Arts House used for? Who were the people who sat in the rooms and walked its corridors? From 25 to 26 May 2024, celebrate the curiosity, adventure and joy in stories with Monstrous Fun! at The Arts House organised by Arts House Limited.
From The Arts House Story Tour to workshops and drop-in activities, there’s something for everyone in the family. Here are some of the programme highlights:
- Embark on The Arts House Story Tour to learn the history behind Singapore’s oldest government building. Discover interesting facts about the building, its
people and what went on in The Chamber that shaped Singapore into what it is today.
- Turn your ideas into reality through a 3D Rendering Workshop with Singaporean sculptor and Cultural Medallion recipient, Chong Fah Cheong. Suitable for ages 15 and above, participants can articulate their creation with any material of their choice.
- Modelling Expression with Artbeatz for 5 to 14 years old: Learn moulding and sculpting techniques as you express your creativity and create your own sculpture using a variety of materials. Let your imagination run wild and engage with the tactile and 3D world of art.
- Maximise your creativity while saving the environment with Create Your Own Monster. Using everyday materials found at home, transform them into your very own monster sculpture!
- Pick a spot at The Giant Poetry Wall and craft your own poem by hand pairing words to form rhymes. Remember to snap a picture with your poem and tag #theartshouse.
- Story Walk 2023: Digital Stories takes you on an outdoor roving storytelling experience to rediscover the Civic District and its iconic monuments through the Benchmarks art trail. Journey with the storytellers through their tales inspired by Benchmarks, featuring three art benches – ‘This is Not a Bench’, A Micropolyphonic Stage’ and ‘Re-Store / Neural Artefact Black’. Benchmarks is a Civic District placemaking initiative that presented a series of six art benches by six Singapore-based artists.
