I must admit I cannot remember that last time I played with Playdoh (or anything that felt like cookie dough for that matter), but I do remember that playing with the squishy mush gave me endless amounts of fun. As such I was pleasantly surprised to see a much more evolved version come my way – Mohdoh.
Branded as ‘healthy playdoh’, this squidgy toy boasts a bunch of benefits. Specifically designed with Children in mind and delivering both the benefits of color and aromatherapy, Mohdoh treats childhood ailments like insomnia, travel sickness, anxiety, coughs ,sneezes, hyperactivity and lack of concentration.
Specifically, Mohdoh delivers three therapeutic elements in a fun and natural way – through sight, smell and touch. Carefully selected essential oils embedded in the dough, is both inhaled and absorbed through the skin as the dough is kneaded. The color of the dough then helps balance the energy centres that are out of harmony.
The dough is available in six different colors and with different blends of essential oils which have a targeted purpose. For example, the ‘Smart’ dough, meant to stimulate and improve concentration, comes in yellow and contains a blend of rosemary, basil and rosewood oils. ‘Breathe’ dough, with its mix of eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender and hyssop offers a head clearing, stress relieving time. The other versions are ‘No Worries’ – to calm and relieve, ‘Are We There Yet?’ – to ease travel anxiety and nausea, ‘Calm’ – for workaholics and on the go kids and ’40 winks’ – to aid restful sleep.
Upon opening the container I was welcomed by a good scent of oils, not too strong and not too weak. The dough had just the right texture and size for a child to engage with both hands or for an adult to fiddle around with one hand. Interestingly, the dough did not leave any sticky feeling that I recall having from Playdoh. The aromatherapy effect was also in proportion to how much I kneaded the dough, which meant the more the dough is kneaded, the more the effect. My palms were also left with the scent of the oils for quite some time after I stopped playing around with the dough. I am not sure if I felt any smarter after my go at the dough, but I must say that the color and scents were invigorating.
Personally, I think his dough has uses for both children and adults. I am confident kids will enjoy playing with this but for how long I am not too sure. For adults, I think it might come in handy at the workplace – akin to a stress ball that we all have had at some point or other. Nonetheless, with its neat packaging and travel-friendly size (think a one-inch thick coaster as the box), this could certainly be a must-have for families on the move and if the kids get bored with it and create a ruckus, the parents might find a good use for this to destress.
Mohdoh retails at $19.00. To find out more information visit https://www.intellikids.sg/mohdoh_aboutus.php
