Michelle Obama meets adorable toddler who is her biggest fan

She might be tiny, but she is definitely Michelle Obama's biggest fan!

Just a week ago, two-year-old Parker Curry was admiring Michelle Obama’s stunning portrait at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.

Now, the toddler has finally met her new hero! Best of all, she even got to have a fun dance party with her.

Michelle Obama encourages little fan to ‘keep on dreaming big’

On Wednesday, 7 March, the mum of two and former first lady posted a photo of their adorable first meeting along with a clip of their fun dance party!

“Parker, I’m so glad I had the chance to meet you today (and for the dance party)! Keep on dreaming big for yourself,” wrote Obama on Instagram, “and maybe one day I’ll proudly look up at a portrait of you!”

A photo of Parker gazing up in awe at the Amy Sheraled portrait first went viral on Thursday, 1 March.

“It was so touching and uplifting for me to see this beautiful child looking at a beautiful portrait of a powerful woman,” 37-year-old Ben Hines, the bystander who took the photo, told BuzzFeed.

Shortly after that, the tot appeared on Buzzfeed’s AM to DM, where the youngster’s love for the former US first lady warmed hearts. In the clip, Parker said she wanted to meet Obama so she could tell her “she’s a queen.”

The portrait by Amy Sherald was first unveiled in February 2018. During the ceremony, Obama said that she’s “thinking about all of the young people, particularly girls and girls of colour” who will one day be inspired by it.

Michelle Obama encourages little girls everywhere with her strength and intelligence

This isn’t the first time Michelle Obama inspired the youth to reach for the stars!

Just in time for International Women’s Day, here are some of the most inspiring quotes from Michelle Obama.

1. Stay authentic and focused

“One of the lessons that I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals,” she told Marie Claire magazine in a past interview. “And so when I hear about negative and false attacks, I really don’t invest any energy in them, because I know who I am.”

2. Education is power

In her final speech as first lady of the United States, she urged the American youth, saying “be determined…be empowered. Empower yourselves with a good education, then get out there and use that education to build a country worthy of your boundless promise. Lead by example with hope, never fear.”

3. Choose the people in your life wisely

The mum of two has also taken the time to give her teen daughters advice for when they fall in love someday.

“Choose people who lift you up,” she advised in a past interview with ABC News. “Find people who will make you better.”

4. Work hard for what you want

In her 2008 Democratic convention speech, she expressed how she and husband Barack were raised with many of the same values.

“…work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond. that you treat people with dignity and respect,” she said, “even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them.”

5. Have the courage to define your own success

In a 2012 commencement address at the Oregon State University, she said that “success isn’t about being impressive, but inspired.”

“I can promise you that you will never be happy plodding through someone else’s idea of success,” she assured the new graduates. “Success is only meaningful — and enjoyable — if it feels like your own.”

Happy International Women’s day to all the inspiring mummies like Michelle Obama out there!
