Parenting can bring about a mix of so many emotions, especially when you are raising a toddler. While some moments are filled with pure joy, during others you can find yourself pulling your hair.
And if you thought you were alone in feeling impatient, think again. Because the world’s influential parent in the world, Mark Zuckerberg recently shared his dilemma of raising a toddler and it is anything but relatable.
Younger Mark Zuckerberg Daughter Is Teaching Him About Patience In The Most Unlikely Of Ways
In a post on the social media platform Facebook (of course), the Facebook CEO shared that he was teaching his daughter to type. But it turned out to be a serious test of his patience.
The 37-year-old shared an image of his daughter learning how to code on the platform – Kano.
In the caption, Zuckerberg wrote, “Kano is pretty awesome for teaching kids to code.” While that’s incredible, he followed it up with his own thoughts about the process.
He wrote, “Also, I just want to say that teaching a kid to type is one of the greatest tests of patience I have ever experienced. August types at literally 1-2wpm [words per minute]. And when she gets a few letters into a word and then makes a mistake and accidentally presses delete three times instead of once and then has to retype the whole word, I feel like I’m just going to lose it,”
The younger Mark Zuckerberg daughter also has the sticker of popular Disney character Elsa from the movie Frozen on his laptop. As Mark wrote, “And yeah, that’s a sticker of Elsa on my laptop.”
What Do The Netizens Say?
The post was a hit on the Internet resonating with all young parents.
One user wrote, “That’s called parenting!! Patience is a tree of sour roots, and sweet fruits!!”
Some users showed concern about the little one learning to code rather than playing outside. One user commented, “Children need to play outside. Please do not put your children for a long time in the screen. There are a lot of things children need to engage to develop all the áreas.”
Another user wrote, “It’s certainly not healthy for little kids to use computers and phones from such an early age!”
However, there were quite a few who were ecstatic about the toddler learning to code at such a young age.
A Facebook user wrote, “Mark, it seems like a kid-friendly format. Great!” Another commented, “Is this good for adults too honestly cause I learn way better with a lot more hands-on like in your face teaching do it myself kind of thing?
The younger Mark Zuckerberg daughter is three-years-old and it’s great to see the tech boss teaching his child how to type at such a young age. Meanwhile, the other Mark Zuckerberg daughter, Maxima Chan Zuckerberg is five-years-old.
It’s also reassuring to see billionaires tackle the same parenting problems as everyone else.
5 Reasons Why You Should Teach Kids To Type At An Early Age

1. Master typing skills early on
Typing takes effort and to master it, you need to practice as often as possible. With children, the challenge is to teach them the language first. This includes letter combinations to create words, phrases and complete sentences. Every child takes time to acquire this skill so the earlier you start, the better equipped they will be at their own pace.
2. Learning accuracy over speed
Nobody likes an email full of grammatical errors and typos. That only happens when you miss out on accuracy when typing. This brings us to the point of consistent practice that can be achieved by regularly learning how to type from an early age.
3. Enhanced self-esteem
Typing is a skill and doing it correctly is one less barrier in moving up the professional ladder. When your child learns a skill, it helps boost their self-esteem and will give them much-needed confidence and encouragement to learn other skills in life.
4. Better reading skills
Strong typing skills also lead to better reading and comprehension. Kids not only learn to type words also read the letter aloud and see it on the screen. This helps support phonics and make sounding out words easier.
5. Better computer skills
Learning to type at an early age will only help improve your child’s computer skills. This is not only important from an academic standpoint but also on a lifelong basis.
Kids, looking to build a career in programming, gaming, or other such disciplines, will find it easier to understand how a program works. Even for other jobs, it only makes things convenient for children.
