Want to spend the weekend lazing in the wind and give the kids a big play area? Do it at the Marina Barage!

Built across the mouth of the Marina Channel, the Marina Barrage creates Singapore’s 15th reservoir, and the first in the heart of the city. With a catchment area of 10,000 hectares, or one-sixth the size of Singapore, the Marina catchment is the island’s largest and most urbanised catchment. Together with two other new reservoirs, the Marina Reservoir will boost Singapore’s water catchment from half to two-thirds of the country’s land area.

Beautiful night view, breezy quiet moments, ideal open ground for picnic/kite flying and chit chatting, good dining area, good play area, and useful educational centre.  At night, an ideal place for couples to stroll, while the kids enjoy themselves “having a friendly running competition and fun at water play” 🙂

The Marina Barrage gives you the height of technological sophistication in the throes of urban vibrancy. Situated at the heart of the up and coming Marina South district, this colossal architectural masterpiece is a must-visit as a family. Take a stroll through the barrage’s vast compounds and come face to face with stunning engineering equipment. Visit the intriguing gallery and discover how the barrage ingeniously prevents flooding to the city’s low-lying areas. Or simply stand atop the green roof to take in the sweeping Singapore city skyline. It is very informative place where there is a gallery to learn more about the engineering behind the tidal barrier
