Man charged with sexual assult
SINGAPORE: A father of two has been charged with seven sexual offences, including three for statutory rape and four for indecent acts, with a then 13—year—old girl in 2007.
The man is claiming trial to all of them.
The offences allegedly occurred when the 45 year old was her martial arts coach.
Sordid details of their relationship were revealed on Wednesday at the start of his 10—day trial.
They cannot be named to avoid identifying the teenager.
Some of the details include how the two would address each other as “Lao Gong” and “Lao Po” which means “husband” and “wife” in Chinese.
Text messages, some of which were lengthy romantic poems, were also frequently exchanged between them.
Witnesses such as the girl’s school counsellor spoke about how the girl, at the age of 12, was already sexually active with a 15—year—old boy and had at least four other relationships.
After a breakup and other issues like stress from studies, she was depressed and had attempted suicide.
Taking the stand on Wednesday, the school’s principal said the relationship between the teenager and the instructor surfaced in 2007 after the school received a call from a man claiming to be a relative of one of the students in the martial arts club.
The caller revealed the teenager had blogged about her liking for the instructor and posted a picture of them online.
Fellow—students told the CCA teacher—in—charge that the pair would frequently have dinner at the coach’s place, and when the coach sent the students home, the teenager would always be the last one to be dropped off.
The discipline mistress later discovered several intimate messages from “Lao Gong” sent to the girl.
The messages were later verified to be from the coach and the martial arts club was subsequently terminated.
The school counsellor testified on Wednesday that the teenager had admitted the couple had had sexual intercourse.
She had also shared that she had several relationships in the past and was seeing others while dating the coach.
The doctor who examined the teenager confirmed on Wednesday the girl had been involved in more than one sexual encounter.
